My accessory switch on the ignition didn't work when I got the truck, and have since done a complete re-wire front to back. When testing everything last night, the radio still doesn't come on when the key is set to the accessory position. Is this an indication that the ignition switch itself is bad? The truck starts just fine and when the key is moved to the second position on the ignition (just before starting the motor), everything works. Is it my ignition switch or is this just how it will be?

Thanks in advance.

Brandon

Is the switch adjusted properly? I seem to recall these having slotted openings for the screws to allow some adjustments.

I have absolutely no idea. Would that be on the column switch?

Yeah. Where the switch attaches to the column. The screw holes should be slotted to allow it to slide up or down, depending on which you need.

Forgive my ignorance, but is this where the key is or much lower on the column where the wires are? Thank you.

Lower on the column, probably just above the pedals if I remember correctly. It will be a flat piece, with a flat multi pin plug going into it. It will also have the connecting rod running into it from the mechanism up at the key.

It should be on top of column right where it goes under the dash. Steering colun need to drop some for easier access

Ok so found the screws. I also notice that the switch is slid up toward the steering wheel almost if not all the way.

What does moving it up or down actually do?

moving it either up or down will change how far the rod either pushes or pulls on the switch mechanism.

If moving the position of the switch doesn't take care of the issue, it may be a bad switch, or a different problem, but at least checking this doesn't cost anything.

Agreed. I'll check on this on Tuesday when I get back out to the truck. I'm hoping that this takes care of it, as I need to have the Accessory position work.

Thank you for this! Although for some reason the image doesn't show up for me when I click on it. Any chance you can blow it up?
