Here's a little tid bit for you. A 305 and a 350 there are 45 CID difference. They run the same TBI,the same ECM I believe the same PROM,they run the same fuel pump. The only thing I know they change for sure is larger injectors. I honestly believe that is the only change.
Now you have added 38 CID and done nothing to increase fuel flow from the injectors. Changing fuel pumps does not increase fuel delivery from the injectors. I think you probably do have a fuel problem, but I don't think you are addressing the true problem.

They aren't the same PROM, but due to the different injector flow ratings, a 350 will run pretty ok on a 305 PROM.

Increasing the fuel pressure may mask the 350 injectors and lack of tuning, or using 454 injectors may also mask the lack of tuning.

...and a stock TBI 350 cam in a 383 seems like a very lackluster choice, imho.

I already told him to bump fuel pressure, good call on the 454 injectors @Vbb199 may have some input there.

According to Brian at TBI chips.

More fuel pressure is to get the injectors to flow more fuel to support more power. That isnt necessary with TBI heads. If we had cam specs, I would know just how much to change the chip but we may just have to guess but stock fuel pressure will be fine.

So when you stay stock fuel pressure, you mean 9-12 psi? He said
Prefer it closer to 12 psi the better

Asked him about doing the 18 psi springs and he said no.

So what should I do?

He already shot down the springs but on the 350 recommendation mods it is literally the first thing you should do is upgrade the pump. So confused

Put a AF gauge on it and find out if and when you are lean. If you are lean you are going to have to do something to up the fuel. I don't want to create an argument but increasing air (displacement) but not providing more fuel does not make sense to me.

That upgrade is pretty common, so something might just be slightly different with the parts. Sometimes the strainers that come with certain pumps don’t clip perfectly and people end up using a different style or gently heating the plastic to get it to fit. Might be worth double-checking the strainer part number too.
