Hi all, new guy here. Got an 87 r10 with a 350 and 700r4 trans. Always had carbed and non computer trucks so selecting a cam is overwhelming my brain. Looking for something with a decent upgrade in torque and hp, nothing crazy wbut something with a nice lope to it or at least something that sounds and feels better under my ass than stock. And hopefully one that doesn't need a chip or whatever, someone please help, looking towards comp because I have credit with them but fornthe life of me can't get them to answer their phone

Comp 12-388-4 is what I have.
Another good cam, is the roller cam from the GM HT383E.
Be very careful, you do not want a cam that is going to reduce the vacuum, unlessmyou are prepared to do some heafty chip tuning.

o this cam doesn't need any mods to computer? What else would be suggested whil installing, hat springs would be good or are the stock springs and rockers ok?

Stock is what I am running with my cam, and should be sufficient with the 383 cam, its meant for a truck, so lift is not outrageous.

Great thanks buddy, I'm gonna order the comp cam you suggested, all the specs look great and seeing as how I won't need to chip the computer or buy anything else, it fits my budget

Only the cam from the HT383e...it is a 350 vortec replacement.
The comp 12-388-4 is what I thought you were getting.

The HT383e cam will require you to upgrade to roller.

No, not goin roller. Goin with the 388 like u said. Want very little work on the motor, don't want to upgrade, so if no chips and no rockers or springs required, then the 388 is what I'm getting

Ok, we are on the same page then. Get new lifters, and a jar of synthetic break in lube. Got all my stuff from summit. May want to do the timing chain while your in there too.
