87 Part Time 4x4 to AWD ???

Anyone on here know if its possible to make a 4x4 R1500 into an AWD truck? everything i seem to find is to just change out the transfer case to either a astro van or safair van awd transfer case?

If I may ask, whats the reason for wanting AWD over 4wd?

I don't have any experience with AWD. But swapping in an Astro t-case or similar "would" seem like the better option. Im just not so sure on reliability after doing some engine mods...

Would`nt a NP203 transfer case and a set of lockers accomplish the same thing ???

no clue that's why i put it up here to ask if anyone's done it or knows of a thread that has a walk-through for it. but would i just put that splicer on a astro/safari/bravada transfer case and be good...

If you have 4wd already, you have a V1500, and its the NP203 case that has the AWD capability.

do you know a place to look it up ive been trying since yesterday to find this and havent found anything... no write ups, no hey look at this site until now
