Sick of dealing with "guiet" mufflers that don't last long. Currently the exhaust exits out 90° behind the tire.....which with with glass packs is too loud for as the driver.

I've done the 'burb tank conversion on it, is it a good or bad idea to just run out the back and angle down behind and below the bumper? I've come to the point where I don't care about others behind me if it's loud....I don't want to hear it lol. GP's coming out the side was too loud for me in the cab.

I'm too the point of getting GP's and clamping them on myself (I'm not a welder and too old to start...better things to do).

Main question is GP's and temp close to the burb tank coming straight out the back and angled down to exhaust below the bumper. Safe enough?

Thoughts and suggestions welcome....aside from expensive mufflers.

Thanks In Advance

specs: LS truck engine with a BTR torque cam (not much more than stock...had to upgrade springs only for the cam). Guessing 330 HP cuz it's not tuned. 2.25" dual exhaust.

I see lots of trucks with the exhaust running right beside the 'burb tank, the usually just wrap that section of pipe in header wrap. Realistically, as long as there's a couple inches of air space, it should be fine even without

There's an incredible amount of cars and trucks from all makes that have exhaust components literally right next to the fuel tank with just a cheesy tin heat shield. Leaving 2 or 3 inches of space is perfectly fine with no heat shield at all.

Guys with burbs and blazers just run duals all the time and never think twice about the location of the gas tank.

Once you get over the rear axle you kick out between the frame and bed sides you can go straight back to the bumper plenty far enough away from the tank that's inside the frame rails.
