Hi, first post here. I have a 1986 k10 that I am building a 454 for, to put in place of the 350. My truck has the sm465 transmission. I am aware I need a 454 specific flywheel, which I have already gotten. (Perfection clutch 50-6531). My question is, will this flywheel work with the 3 finger, borg and beck, or the diaphram set up, or all 3? And if it will work with all of them which setup should I look into? I believe the system I have may be borg and beck, but don't know how to tell. About help would be appreciated, thanks.

Borg and Beck is the three finger style.

Just go with the diaphram style. It will hold fine and will work with less effort from your leg. '86 should have the diaphram style to begin with, I think. From what I remember, the three finger type can interfere with the clutch fork on the hydraulic operated setup.

I think the current motor is not the stock setup. As my vintage and the codes in the glove compartment say my truck came with a 305. But I ran the numbers on what's in there, and it's definitely a 350. Is there a way to tell what style of clutch is in the truck now? Without tearing everything apart? Only reason I ask is because the truck is currently my daily driver.

I would be happy with the diaphram set up, I'm just wondering what else I might have to change if what the truck runs now is borg and beck

You won't have to change anything, just the clutch kit with disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing and pilot bearing. The normal stuff.

Ok nice. So no need to put like a hydraulic set up for the diaphram system?

Nope, if your current clutch master cylinder and slave are working fine, then there's no need to replace them.
