I'm swapping my 700R4 out for a Saginaw 3 speed (yes, I know this is backwards from what everyone else does). I have the trans and manual column, but I'm missing the shift linkage. Will the shift linkage from a 67–72 truck work? I found a set on eBay. I haven't had any luck finding the 73–87 shift linkage. Nothing online or in person. Squarebodies rarely pop up at my local Pick-n-Pulls, and the ones that do have an auto or SM465. Before someone suggests it, I will NOT convert to a floor shifter.

Thanks,

Colby

I like your style!

I would bet that the '67-'72 rods are not the same.

It's worth getting them. I bet they might work, and if they don't they should be close to fitting and being in the correct orientation. If they don't work, may be able to bend them to work, and also there are 3-speed floor shifters available, so your project is not dead.

That's true. Even if incorrect, they would at least be a better starting point than having nothing at all.

You could search the old threads of members doing the exact opposite and reach out to them. They might just charge shipping. Worth some time and the ask especially if they have them and are willing to part with them.

Sir you need to check with members here. There are enough on here that have swapped to 4speeds,5speeds,automatics. Someone on here has everything you need laying around in their garage. Use the search engine, find people that have made these swaps, post on their threads, leave them PMs. I think you have to have 50 posts to post in our classifieds,so the posts on everyone who's made swaps posts will bring your post count up. You didn't bother saying hi to us or introducing yourself,so I'm not going to bother saying hi back or welcome.

I converted to a floor shifter, and I think I still have my old shift rods laying around.

It's been like 5-6 years, so I'll have to see if I can find them.

Got it. Also, can we assume ignorance before malice? I had a pressing question, so I asked it. I've only lurked on forums until now, so I saw them as disjointed questions and discussions. I'll introduce myself after I finish up on my bed stack tomorrow, though that might just make you dislike me even more :Big Laugh:

Awesome. I'm 1000% interested. Name your price. You have a monopoly on the 73–87 shift linkage market at the moment, haha.
