Need HELP?
Need some help? I have a 87 r1500 tbi 350. A few months ago I was having problems with the ignition module blowing out all the time, found out my alternator was the problem, my alternator was old, so I replaced it with a new Powermaster alternator, and never had another problem with the ignition module blowing out. All the sensors are new and it has brand new coil, I am running a clutch fan and a 195 thermostat. It has a holley intake and holley tbi. I was sitting in the sonic drive-thru today and and started driving and sure enough the truck went dead. Took the ignition module off and replaced it and it fired right up. Would heat be a problem, truck wasn't overheating or could the whole distributor need to be replaced, because I've replaced the cap and rotor but the distributor is the original one.

Are you using the dielectric grease under it when you're installing it?

Go to any computer repair place and ask them for a tube of Arctic Silver. It comes in a tube like a hypodermic needle -good stuff and only about $5 for all you'll ever need. Don't over apply.

How are your plugs? You listed a bunch of parts you replaced, but didn't mention those. Is the gap still set properly? If the plugs are good, i would try a module from the dealership. Sometimes the aftermarket stuff just doesn't last.
