When I got it to the most recent picture I have of it, doesn’t look too bad for a truck that was totaled around 17 years ago. Cab passenger door and passenger fender are the only original parts, everything else was off of an r10 of same year.

Lol!

The truck. ;)
We like lookin at squarebody trucks in here...you might can imagine?
Engine shots getcha bonus points though ....ESPECIALLY if you take the air cleaner off prior to the snappy snap of the pictures..it's got an interior hood release, right? Oh . Youll be workin on it.
Might oughta grease them hinges "while you're at it".
:waytogo:
Sharp lookin truck.

Yea it’s got interior hood pop but you still have to go outside and bump the hood for it to pop up, assume cable is stretched somewhere. I’ve got a 78 k10 bonanza as well. It’s got the hood latch in the grille only. I’m currently bleeding the radiator, just reconnected the battery about to let it run to temp and let thermostat open with the heat blasting!

Little bubbly… little steam coming out, slightly concerned.

Yep something isn’t right, temp kept climbing to almost 260 and coolant started to spew out of the radiator.

Everything is now well coolant soaked. So sounds like I’ve got a bigger problem than just a high idle.

Yes. Perhaps the idle is a symptom , not the problem.
The thermostat spring goes toward the engine.
That story that ended with the radiator hose? Im not sure what was said but ill go back and read up fresh, I missed a bunch- thanks for the pix.
You even snuck in an extra truck! Big bonus headed your way! :D

The temp gets to between the “3/4” mark and the red zone before it starts dropping back down. In this last photo the temp is at 210 and thermostat is open(yes is the right direction) and idle is sitting at 1600.

Your oil pressure is pegged out. is your engine using the correct senders for oil and temp?

also your fan appears to be setting really far into the shroud

The temp sensor beside the thermostat is brand new, the oil pressure is another question I asked previously in this thread. Oil gauge hasn’t worked since before I got it.
