1982 Chevy Mystery Truck

Well guys, I picked up a new guy long story short on the truck. I guess i'm the 5th owner on it. I'm not sure but thats what i was told. So I got this truck and I had a bunch of GMC stuff on it and I ran the vin 4 times. and it came up as a 1982 Chevy K10 long bed. So my buddy says what about a cab swap I said thats very slim witch i doubt it has. The passenger fender and two doors are red on the inside. The truck was Red at one point I think it was factory color. The Rad support says 1982 and came factory with a 305 the vin confirms that too.

So heres my problem I want to ditch all the GMC stuff and put it back to a Chevy.

I want to find out What it is

Custom Deluxe
Scottsdale
Silverado

So I looked for a build sheet on the glove box cant find one. Theres a blue tag on the Left hand side about towing a camper.

I want to figure out what trim it cam from the factory.

Heres some of the things I noticed different from my 85 Silverado.

Has Rear cargo Lamp, Dual Gas tanks, tilt wheel and oh yeah antenna on the passenger fender. thats really the only thing the truck has. Has a blue interior in it. Was it an opinion To get a red truck with a blue interior?


Has No AC in it no Power windows in it nothing really Fancy in it.

Any help would be wicked nice to figure out what this thing is.

We will need pics. It's really hard to tell what one of these trucks are without the build sheet or SPID label because even a Custom Deluxe could have many of the Silverado options.

Sticker usually attached to the glove box door. But it looks like that truck has been made from a lot of parts trucks so it's original identity may never be known.

Well I do know this The doors and the passenger side fender and the rad support are all from the Cab and frame

Interior picks will help alot more than an exterior pic, repaints can hide the trim level.

Uh yeah, why? Custom Deluxe; Scottsdale and Silverado were the trim levels for Chevy trucks in 1982.

GMC had Sierra; High Sierra and Sierra Classic.

I'd have gotten the VIN off the passenger side frame rail and compared it against the cab VIN then you'd know if it had a Cab Swap. Cab Swaps to 4x4's are a bit common. They rust out, and people will swap a rust free 2wd cab to save the 4x4 frame. Or someone had a 2wd and wanted a 4x4 conversion and swapped to a 4x4 frame.

Nope. Scottsdale was a chevy trim level. I have one sitting up at my brothers house
