On my 77 chevy c20 when I try to latch my hood I can't. It just stopped working today. Even if I slam if as hard as I can it won't stay down. I don't know what's up. Has anyone had this problem and a solution for it

I would try making the latch lock manually (by hand, not with the hood pin), to see if it will lock in the closed position. Could be as simple as the release handle partially pulled out. If it latches when empty, open the latch again and maybe try adjusting the lock pin up incrementally.

Sometime it’s the safety catch, or could be the spring, see if things are lined up, shoot some wd40 it there thes things are fine tuned machines sometimes you just need to tweak them a little

Whenever I play with hood latches, I always pull the grills out or have a Plan B / access idea in the event it wont release.

Not sure why this was originally posted in the introduction subforum but I’ve now moved it to the proper spot :waytogo:
