Masked and cleaned again then primed. Using PPG lamabase epoxy, seems to stick good. First coat used 1/4:1 medium reducer for a sealer, second coat 1:1 primer, activator. While you don't need to sand, I will be doing seam sealing, and filling a bunch of spot welds with bondo. then sand smooth and top coat.

It is a wonder these shoe box cars lasted as the craftmanship is lacking. seam gaps, holes where two panels were attached......anyway I am fixing all that as I am going, seam sealing welding, patching you get the drift. Still a long way to go, but getting paint on the car after 15+ years is very encouraging.

Soooooo, if you have drifted this way, I need some advice on the LS swap. Hoping to have a roller by the end of the week, then I can get the LS1 (2000 Camaro, rear sump), out of the shed and begin to prep and install. Motor mounts? Trans mount, still have the original, may mod it. I have the 411? computer, and an HD tuner, but in a hurry. Should I just buy a replacement ECM that has had the VATs removed? what about the wiring harness? Have the original. Car is getting all new wiring, front to back FYI. I was not going to mod the motor...... but have LS7 lifters, TS cam, Trunion rockers....I will run headers and have bungs for sensers. Bought a complete fuel system from Holly tank in pump, stock location. I think I will have to run a return line, havn't gotten that far. Those in the know HELP, cause Perry is old school and doesn't know:)

I bought mine from bdturnkey.com It came with the harness and ecm detuned down to off road vehicle stuff. The wire harness is all there if I wanted to add all the crap from a 2004 Silverado. But they left only the necessary wiring to get to run and connect essential items, temp, tach, a/c etc. There is a ton of info on their site that you can go retrieve. That may answer some of your questions!!

I would add the firewall reinforcement from DSE. If you drive aggressively, the firewall on these cars can bend. The factory had a brace that ran from the firewall to the front of the dash under the gauges.

Got er done. Two coats black then two coats clear with flatter. Never used flatter, it goes by weight. I do have a scale that weighs in grams, so it was easy. Just look at the chart they give you, and pour that many grams in. This was a two stage clear, so clear, activator, flatter. The shop reeks. I will go up tomorrow for a peak. I sealed everything on the firewall, much more then the pics I posted.

I just sprayed in the shop..............tomorrow will tell the carnage/overspray. I have the heater set @ 75 deg., as I am using a medium reducer, or activator. I need some more primer, so will get some tomorrow as that is town day. I want to do the roof next, as that will be a day job, and it looks like not to much fun. I will demask tomorrow, and maybe finish the front suspension as then it will be a roller. I still have to remove all the original suspension, and then clean, primer, raptor line the underside. There are mods to do as well to fit the suspension in, and I am also cutting the bump stops out for more tire clearance. More boby work, but not bad. Later

Today cut out anything I don't need, much cleanup, and had to modify some big washers to fill a hole where the front leaf springs have a 2.44 dia. hole on one side. I did not get them welded in, but got them to fit. Everything is clean where the new suspension is going in, the sub frame is surprisingly wimpy. Tomorrow I hope to install drive line loop and shock mounts. I also bought a new front core support from AMD, should be here in about a week.

I am already thinking of engine mods....sheesh, it's a sickness. I already have a Texas Speed can .600 lift, some ported and completed heads that I sent to K-tek. Have a set of Launati Rods. Would need a better intake and bigger injectors. Slap me now. We have sun here today, a blessing and I am chomping at the bit to get going. I hope to continue cleaning and maybe installing, fixing the suspension that I talked about earlier. So danged busy, and spring is coming and ranching....Also getting solar on the house....better get with it

This was a major P---er, but I finally got it in. This driveline loop also has provisions for the four bar setup, and shock mounts. Now that it is in, I will finish welding it in. Also didn't help that the wire in my welder got messed and wouldn't feed. If you ever had to take a spool out, well yeah wire everywhere. However I got it working properly, really love my old Miller 175.

Another dirty day wire brushing and welding in the bottom of the fender. Tedious, but looks good. Almost have the back half clean enough to wipe down for paint. I need to do much seam sealing, got most everything sanded and deburred, hate cutting myself on a car, so I smooth and radius everything under there. This will get Raptor lined after Epoxy primer.

Had a hole, this is the repair, not pretty, but solid and sanded. Again this will be Seam sealed and painted, rhino lined. That completes the back half. Still lots of parts to go on, but got the yucky stuff done.
