Look real close and you can read the numbers, sorry for crappy quality

Truck off the volt gauge in the truck reads 13, running 16.
This picture is truck running, with it off needle is a tiny tiny bit to the left

The red on the bottem of the needle is "replace" Green is good, but the battery is still newer

And, alternator is same age as battery, about a year old, and alternator still looks like brand new

If you divide the space between the 10 and 20 it looks good to go. Was this with the engine running?

So since it looks good, would that mean its not the positive battery cable?
And, i wasnt reading anything, i dont understand it, ive been going off the voltmeter gauge in the truck

I will tell you this. Get a volt meter and read your battery voltage, then alternator output, then distribution block, then fuse block inside... how often can you trust someone's word when buying a vehicle? If your dash volt meter is correct.. Your alternator is putting out max voltage. And yes the positive wire can go bad just like that in a flash doesn't take a second. The fact that you had to jump it to get started is a red flag. If your still experiencing the same thing... Well there you have it.

Positive cable didnt fix it... and instead of testing everything or throwing more parts at it im just gonna bring it in to a mechanic my dad knows well. Only has excess voltage when the trucks running, so to me it seems like something with the alternator or voltage regular, ill let him figure it out

Thanks for all the help!

When the vehicle is running, The voltage should read 14.25 volts. When it is off it should be around 12V

Fix what? Your truck starts and the readings are good... correct? What's the issue besides your factory gauge being a little inaccurate?
