That link is showing the Detroil Locker to be $459, and the Lockright to be $330. I am pretty certain I know a place to get the LockRight 1955 for $290. If the Grizzly doesn't get awesome reviews or has good HP and tire size ratings, for $70 more I'd go Detroit Locker. I'd be curious to find some specs on the Grizzly. Its looks similar to the Detroit and you just might be saving yourself about $70 to go with the Yukon Grizzly.

I want to get one soon because my friend just bought a CUCV and as we all know they have the 14 bolt ff and D60 with posi`s.

They have 4:56`s and i have 4:10`s in my truck, he want`s 4:10`s and i want 4:56`s so he offered to swap gears with me.

I`m gonna see if he wants to swap the the axles and i`ll give him some money on top of the deal.

He`s just using the truck as a beater and he really doesn`t need the LSD`s but if he wont do it i want to get one before we swap gears so while they`re apart the locker can go in.

So I've started tearing down the CUCV axle I have. Just opened it up for the first time. Sure is pretty in there. Damn shame I'm tearing it apart just to rob the Detroit Locker out of it. Sure enough it's in there. Gears are marked 9 41 X 85, so that's consistant with the guy saying it was an 85 CUCV that it came from. By feel the backlash was none. Of course it should be .003 - 012 so not like you'd feel it anyway, but point is, it wasn't all worn to the feel and gears look good. So soon, I'll have the 4.56 on up carrier for sale and the 4.56 gears.

Snagging the disk brakes too for this 4.10 axle. I think. Just not sure yet if I'm going with the 3.73 set up in the 85 K10 and the 4.10 in a Burb, or vice versa. I'll never say until it's done. My mind and plans change way to often.

It's the one with the disk brakes.

And so it's in the thread, here's the 4.10 14b FF I picked up last night for $100. Haven't even unloaded it yet out of the back of the K1500.

Axle Tube Code is GMD According to the Library, it's a 85-86 C20 Non Locking Diff. :waytogo:

What kind of $ are you going to want out of the gears?

Which gears? I've got a set of 4.10's listed on eBay already, Getting ready to list that 4.56 up carrier since that's the breaking point. Then the 4.56 gears I was going to put in a separate auction. I hate to even sell them, but as strapped as I am, gotta sell some ****. Either way I can edit the 4.10 gear listing to be the 4.56's.

Now that I know how good of shape that CUCV axle was in, I wish I woulda put that damn thing in te 84 C20 and a nice cam in the 454 and a **** kit in the Th400 and had me a Street/Strip truck. That bitch woulda hooked up real nice with that Detroit Locker. It's just hard to tell with a DLocker cuz you feel about 1/4 to 1/3 turn of slop when you turn the yoke which is totally normal for a Detroit Locker.

The 4.56 gears. I'm not even sure I need them, but you know how I feel about spares. I have a carrier and gears, but the gears are rusted here and there. I need to get a picture of them, you might say they would be OK to run them.

Chances are they are OK. Unless they are pitted and even then, hell I'd run'em. So long as they aren't rusted up at the mating surface where they mount to the carrier to where they won't fit flush, a little rust isn't to hurt, and when they get used, submerged in gear oil, heated up a bit and being used I'd say that rust will get polished off. These ones I have even have a little rust on them where the gears were not submerged in oil and moisture from sweat got on the gears. So these may not even be any better than what you have.

If I wasn't so strapped on cash and trying to get whatever wil sale to sell, I'd give you a real good deal on these. So if you don't think you need them and they're probably not much better if any than yours, I'll list them on ebay for $100 like I did the 4.10's. If they don't sell in a couple weeks for that, then I'll hit you up for cheap deal.

The 4.10's I listed are surface rusted but I'm sure will clean up nice. Knowing they are almost new, when I set this 4.10 axle up with the Locker, I'm thinking of using this 3000 mile 4.10's with the Detroit Locker. If they don't sell for $100, then I'll use them and sell these used ones that's in it now for $75 or $50. I'm sure they're good too but why not have the newer lower mileage ones is my thankin !!! Then I won't feel so bad selling them so cheap.

Sounds good, I'll still get a pic though if I remember. I figured the worst thing that could happen is they are noisy. With all the wind noise, tire noise, exhaust noise and general road noise, a little gear noise won't hurt.

I bet they aren't even noisy. I'd take surface rusty gears over improper set up, worn, abused or neglected and ran dry gears any day of the week. If the rust is bad they've pitted the teeth, then I'd be a bit more concerned, but even then, for an OE, non hi po build, I'd probably go ahead and use them.

To the best I can recall, just about every rear end I've opened up on a vehicle that has sat for a year or so, had some rust on the gears or carrier in the parts that was not submerged in gear oil.

The ring gear is rusty. And it will probably be improperly setup too, because I've never done it before and I want to try it out, lol.

Well then there you go. Try it out with those little bit of rusty gears. And if you screw up, you've not hurt much. It can be challenging but it's not hard. It appears to me a 14b FF is one of the easier ones. I've done 12 bolt cars a couple times, watched a Ford 9in
