Disabled 4 cylinders on a TBI motor :) MPG Gain???
By a bad intake I mean I had a bent rod and the valve was worn off where the rocker had slipped off to the left. If I just pull both intake and exhaust I could run on 7? What do I need to do with the spark?- Shawn

Anyone tried this with a carbed engine? This would let me drive my truck around for a while. Gotta wait to put in another engine at this point because of a bad intake on #2.- Shawn

Nothing until I get a new engine. Getting one without all the emissions crap. Saving. -

1986 305 to 350
So my 86 C-20's 305 has a bent pushrod and its lifter is falling apart. I want to swap in a 350. From what I can gather, 1986 is the bastard year SBC. Everything says pre-86 and 87-newer. What makes the 86 stand alone? Can I easily swap a pre-86 or post 87 350 into my 86? I'm obviously...- Shawn

What year cluster?
$100 OBO. I am wanting to add a tach to my 86 but thought this might be a better solution. Tach is about that much by itself anyway.- Shawn

Hmm. Might not bother with a new carb on this one just yet. Neighbor says I have what sounds like lifter or rocker noise (ticking). No more dieseling but still bogs at WOT and backfires after.- Shawn

I'm looking into a rebuilt carb or snagging one from the junk yard to rebuild while I run the existing one. Just not trying to put much money into this truck. Anywhere have good deals on rebuilt carbs?- Shawn

Just did a complete tune up: plugs/wires, oil/filter, breather/air filters & PCV. Truck was bogging down under load and diesels after driving around. Couldn't punch the gas without issues but got up to 70 no problem on the freeway when I eased into throttle before tune up. Haven't test driven it...- Shawn

Very nice. Until then, I think I'll have to get some floor mats and deal with it. I was thinking of bed liner underneath. -

Ripped out bench, rubber mat (worn through in places) and matting underneath. Cleaned out as best I could while it was raining... Looking into options now for flooring. I need a balance between sound dampening and easy to clean. Thoughts? -

I'm back! I had to sell my 87 because of financial reasons but now we're doing a lot better. I have an 87 Accord as my daily and just bought an 86 Chevy C20 flatbed 3 speed for $850. It was owned by the WA State Fish & Game Dept since new. Came with owners manual and everything. A bit dented up...- Shawn
