Im a square lover, i hate to see them left to sit.(especially after that much work has been done to them) I wanta see that 502 breathin fire and throwin 25ft roosters!

Ordered a "beige" perforated headline for Goldie today :

What I have is white, and the beige seems to be the closest to white, which of course, they don't offer. :rolleyes:

The beige shows as being perforated on the site - the off white does not show as perforated, but their customer service says it really is.

Ordered 1 can of white vinyl paint, too, although if the color is close enough may say Eff it , which is what my headliner/trim shop guy suggested.

We shall see. :)

I agree, and we will see if my guess is right or not .

I wanted the original perforated headliner style which makes things more difficult - like the seat material. Damn me and my desire for some originality ! :p

Wow, a lot going on here with the projects! Very cool!!

Well, I might as well join the discussion. I have recently ordered all my stuff to put my Olds 455 into this truck, so I purchased an adapter plate with items needed (crank to converter bushing, longer dowel pins, spacers), new torque converter so I can run the summit Thumpr cam I also just ordered along with new valve springs.

Then (yeah, I am already spending way more than I should.....) I also ordered the 6/8 suspension drop kit from Switch Suspensions.

Carpet samples are on the way from Stock Interiors so I can select the correct carpeting. Headliner samples are also on the way.

Interior of this truck is gutted right now. Running boards came off it last night (I will part ways with them if anyone needs them). 455 Olds is on the engine stand. All ductwork/vents have been washed, and sanitized. Metal parts inside of that stuff have been cleaned/painted for many more years of use.

A nicer gauge cluster is on the way for it, I will then start to re-assemble dash/components (dash pad is junk, steel under dash pad is also junk because of a lot of rust), so dash pad will stay off a bit until I buy a new one. For now, I will run it with no dash pad.

I need to do some patch work now on passenger side of truck floorboard. Goal is: Make this baby road safe, electrically sound, and mechanically sound. Years later will be bodywork & paint. For now, the Patina you see is what it will be.

Big Chip, I will keep you guys posted. I am taking lots of pictures, so if I can be of any help I will try to document each step of the way. One thing I found out is I did not know about "bolt on VS clip on" calipers....I assumed they all bolted on!!!! NOPE...not on mine!

Poppy. I bought this truck with no engine, it was previously removed. It still has the transmission however. I have a great running Olds 455.....and since I love square body Chevy's, and I am Oldsmobile guy through & through, I just had to combine the two! To me, I am getting the best of both worlds. Those Olds engines have a heck of a deep grumble to them.

What’s up with the non duallie wheels in the rear?


I was wondering when someone would ask ;)

This is how I bought the truck. It has regular rims all around, with duals & hubcaps. The inner rim looks like the outer rim, is held on with long hex spacers, then over the 8 hex's is another big hub that goes between the rims...then you bolt on the outer rim. It is a 14 bolt rear end in it too. I looked close at the box last night where the fiberglass fenders bolt on, that box is an original dually box with the flanges & all where the fiberglass fenders go on. Here is a picture of the drum, a hex, and the big hub that goes over the hex's. As you can see I have a bit of sandblasting at some point to do.

The front rims are the same.

Honestly, I like the look of hubcaps on this dually, it is odd, it is different, and unique, so I plan to paint or powdercoat the rims white, shine up the hubcaps and run it like that. All other dually's I have ever seen/driven and even on the innerweb have the typical dog dish in the back, and the type that stick out a bit in the front. This is the first time I have seen one like this.

You got that right! Lot's of torque. This will be good for a family cruiser! The truck has new 3" exhaust all the way out the back, and I plan to put a set of cutouts (pull lever style) to dump the exhaust right behind the front tires in the wheel well area. That is more for cruising at shows or car cruises.

Speaking of exhaust, if there's time today, I'm gonna weld up my shorty exhaust for my 502.


I wanted to run straight open Long tubes, but the EFI doesn't like that evidently, you need 4-6" after the collector, and about 12-15 after the O2.

So, 2 feet of straight 3" pipe it is after the collector.

Othwewise, just dual straight pipes


I believe 1 of the 2 fittings I need for my fuel lines has arrived... I'm so close to getting the motor going.

I'm gonna need to have the gas tank got tanked, or try the reccomendations from the members here on cleaning it.
