Gentlemen, I have a 6.2 I want to test run. I need to know if I can block off the oil cooler ports to run it. I get conflicting answers to this question ranging from one guy saying he ran his engine that way for two years, to it will be starved of oil and blow up by another. I could run a bypass line between the pressure side to the return, but why go through all that just to test run the engine?

It needed a new one when that was spun on in the first place. It appears to be a Fram.
I have heard of racecars being able to suck those collapsed. Never seen it in real life. I have used some in the past but I've considered them suspect after hearing that and don't use them much. I did hear a woman in the parts house say once, "I want a fram filter, everyone knows they are the best". No one jumped in to second her idea though. haha

I've seen 2 in real life do it and they weren't race cars. Could have been they were left on to long and got soggy though too. No telling for certain.

Not too happy about the po using Fram filters, I've been using WIX for years. This engine is a little sweaty, but the seller claims it only has 88K on it. I pulled the glow plugs out of it ,and they seem to be relatively new, I'll post a smoke and noise test fire video when I get it ready.

Ok, while I was putting the flexplate on this thing I noticed a casting date of 9-7-82, is this a 'RED' block?

Always sure to start an argument. Do you hook your dizzy vacuum advance to Ported Vacuum or Manifold Vacuum?

I disconnect the muffler bearing retainer for additional fuel mileage.
