BG products seem to be really good. We used them at the GM dealership I once worked at. Anyone heard of Schaeffers oil? It's amazing stuff. Been around since 1839 I think.
Been running Schaeffer in my old girl for years.

The MOA is the only additive I use. It was recommended by my (Ford) engine builder.

All I will interject here is depending on where I was working I've used all kinds of different chemical brands,I don't recommend or condemn any of them, everyone has their own preferences. I do however know from personal expierience if you have a problem or a question with Schaeffer you can reach a friendly, helpful,English speaking person to help you.

I've never seen Schaeffer oil anywhere.

What do y’all suggest to do to get rid of the vacuum lines and the weird valve cover on my 81 k10 it’s a inline 6 250ci with a 4 speed, I figured change the valve cover and intake and carburetor that’s on it, if anyone has took one of these engines and converted them to a more simple way I’d like to see a picture, this is mine in the picture.
OK, I have now started the process of tear down. I knew I had to replace some vacuum hoses but also found my carburetor bolts were loose. Found one of the four air valves was loose where it went into the head. I'm going to remove alot of this stuff (*&^(), rebuild the carb, Check all valves and pushrods and completely eliminate the air induction stuff(*&^().

I'm also cleaning up everything and trying to find my valve tap issue source. So, I'm doing some extra work beyond eliminating vacuum stuff on the 250 6 cylinder.

Amazing how this engine ran perfectly, getting 15-18 MPG, Nice idle, accelerated properly.. with all these vacuum leaks!! The last of the stove bolt engines.. First installed in 1927

Stripped off the vacuum hoses and exhaust ************ pipes. Gonna try a standard valve adjustment. Engine is solid. All plugs are great, Starting to look better. Almost all of the pipes will go away for now. except distributor vacuum advance. Looking better already.

Actually, this engine family (194, 230, 250, 292) was all new for 1963 (and a lot lighter), and shares design elements with the SBC.
The old Chevy 6 continued for decades in Brazil.

I'm not sure what you are calling air valves, but if you are referring to the intake and exhaust valves, some rockers are going to be loose depending on where the engine is in its rotation. Read about valve adjustment before you start tightening rockers.

Latest on this project- removing all the damn vacuum lines on a 250-6 with integrally stupid head. I'm also working on finding a valve tap, but thats the gravy to drive me into this mess. So. I have a new valve cover bargain coming from LMC, but it only fits my early non stupid head. So, I have to use this valve cover for now with all the damn holes. No big deal. OK, Back to it. I pulled all my stuff out easy Nothing was tight. Mixed metric and SAE sizes. I've ordered bolts.. ¾-16 and I'm gonna shove them into the head, which is tapped to ¾-18. A non standard size. I found them on McMaster as they have everything. 5 bolts for $11.74 plus shearing. IF they fit I will remove the pipes, but the valves that do the puffing are working perfectly as check valves, So I have the option of putting everything back. I'm gonna do a factory manual rebuild (its in the book for this damn Rochester varijet 2) I was running lean, so I'm gonna rejet for our 5800' altitude here. I broke 2 of the NGKs I removed, so I ordered Delco. I' gonna take the of the valves by standard adjustment factory procedure. If the plugs work, more than half of the vacuum lines will be gone. I'm going to replace the metal lines with hose sections for all hose, then zip tie em neatly. all new. If a system works and makes sense, it will remain. So. will keep you informed when plugs arrive friday. More parts coming. Gonna rebuild this carb soon.
There's a circuit to delay vacuum advance-- Gone This will be fun. And I have diagrams.
But, I think I'm gonna have this stupid valve cover for a while . Till I get the money to replace the head. and manifolds, and exhaust

So, my plan is to make it look like its therefor the next time we have to look under the hood. In three years. Maybe, maybe knot.. But these kids have no idea. Sorry for the rant above. The hole in the heads to plug is ¾-18. I have ¾ -16 bolts coming to plug.

The new plugs fit!. You kinda gotta ram em in after the threads start, but... These are 1" long. You can see how far they go in.. Again, these are ¾-16. The hole was ¾-18 just because so you don't do this.
Adjusted the (engine intake and exhaust) valves also. Easy peezzy
So this means I'm gonna remove as much as possible. Rebuild the carb, but, this carb has some weird circuits.. No replaceable jets.
