City had a free tire disposal week, so I have been busy breaking down tires. I bought an old Coats Tireman tire machine a while back, finally mounted it to the floor and got to work. Project Blazer had rotted tires on it, but also had locks on 3 of the wheels, and no key. Tried pounding an old socket on (as someone here suggested) but just split the socket, so took a grinder to the locking lugs. Got flats ground on 2 of the rears and was able to use a wrench to get them off, but the front hub is in the way, so still working on it. Hauled off 25 tires so far, still have a couple left to break down.

Pulled the rear tires off after work to check on the "rusty drum experiment ".

Looks like they are cleaning themselves up, but way more slowly than I would have thought given the constant abrasion.

Anyhoo, they are going, and I turned each starwheel out 4 clicks while there, testing after each click.

Probably not so much as to make them drag but hopefully enough to help them do more of the work...

Changed 6 of 8 plugs. Man, they were black. 2 tomorrow and see how it acts. Just changed them 4 or 5 months ago.
You got an oil consumption problem? Maybe it's time to boost the heat range on them thangs.

And finally got to the junkyard to pick up the blown up 350 so I can get my core charge back. Should be able to strip some good parts of it before I give it back.

And bought brand new bolts for the exhaust manifolds on my 78 build. Was all excited to get those put on, and none of the 3 sets of manifolds I have fit.
They're all physically fit, and they're all for a 350 chevy, all say GM bla bla bla on them, but none of the bolt holes line up.
The center 2 bolts line up on all of them, but the outer 4 dont. I can look in threw the hole, and see the bolt hole is all crooked, and if you put one of those in, the other 5 don't line up.
One of the sets I know was on the 350 that came out this truck, now, they won't go back on.
Can anybody explain why or what I did wrong?

Looking for a crate engine also, may i ask where you purchased yours for that price, sounds like a good deal compared to what I've been looking into.

Those types of manifolds have a tendency to deform after years of heat cycles. You bolt up the center two, then use a "manifold spreader" to get the outer holes lined up.
