Does the 700r4 Transmission use wiring for the lockup? It's an 84 k10

yes, there is a 4 pin connector on the drivers side of transmission just about the pan rail. Depending on which set up, there may not be 4 wires in the plug. There is a brake switch, vacuum switch that are also part of the system to lock the converter. Then there are switches inside the transmission on the valve body. 9times out of 10, when guys take the factory carb and emissions off, they just go ham on cutting wires and unplugging everything electrical under the hood, well, the converter switch is one of them. Also, there’s a coolant temp switch as well.

Exactly . Filter cooler.radiator transmission.look at jegs and summit kits really aren't that tough.I"m sure they will have one. Ask at your transmission shop maybe they have the stuff in stock.
I actually called the trans shop to ask if that's something they do. They said they don't keep the stuff in stock but will have the mechanic figure me up a price.

What carburetor is on this truck? Have you done anything to this truck immediately prior to or since the first transmission failure?
It has an edelbrock carb. I haven't done anything to it for a while. I checked the tv cable and it was adjusted correctly.

Most people that tow heavy like the Tru-Cool 40k... it's massive and will pretty much guarantee that you will not overheat the trans no matter what you do. Make sure if you are looking at a trans cooler that you get a stacked plate type, not one of those cheesy one that just bends a straight pipe into a bunch of S's(called tube and fin) and then has some cooling fins braised to it. A smaller stacked plate type will cool significantly better, with less pressure loss, than a larger sized cheapo style. Almost all factory coolers will be stacked plate type.

Here's a link to the 40k. If you dont really do any towing and want to go a little cheaper and a little smaller, they are available also.

Thank you. I may go ahead and order one and take it to them to put in.

Will this exact one fit my truck? Or are they not that specific?

Edelbrock carb does not have correct geometry for 700r4. Do you buy or make a geometry kit. Incorrect geometry will kill a 700r4

Before spending a dime on a cooler, make sure the TV cable is adjusted right!! The best cooler in the world won’t do anything if the line pressure isn’t correct. Hopefully the shop your dealing with has looked that over.

You are so right about this Matt. Why would anyone working at a trans shop be expected to know, how to set up an aftermarket carb?? Sure Hook the cable back up, but trouble shoot the previous owner's mistakes??

And, @Ewhitaker0020 , If the trans shop learns this is why their rebuilt trans failed.... then, any money they save you on parts may not sit well with them.

I just took the bracket that was originally on my truck and it bolted back perfectly using the 2 rear car mounting studs. Then I got the adapter that let me small the tv cable into the carb. Somebody linked the adapter I used. Also I think I have an aftermarket cable because it has a fine adjustment and a big adjustment clip that snaps in and out. Idk if that's factory or not, but it was what was on the truck when I got it.

Also I had the transmission shop recheck everything when I was done and they said everything was fine.

I took the truck check to them immediately after changing the carb. They looked it over carefully and said everything looked and shifted great. I don't see what more I could have possibly done.

here's a kick to the john, although slightly unrelated: went to remove my leaking oil cooler adapter piece in my oil filter housing, and flippin if there wasn't a ford oil filter on my truck (apparently the only filter that would work with the adapter. i threw everything out fast. GM ONLY
