I have an '86 shortbed C10 2wd.... that I plan on swapping a motor and trans from a '76 C10 with a manual. The 86 is an auto. Is this possible??..... swapping all the stuff over from the 76 to the 86? Id like to leave the manual linkage in the 86.

I believe you will need to transfer over the linkage, and frame mounts for the linkage from the '76. Iirc, they stopped putting them on the frames when they went hydro in '85. The geometry should all be the same though, you'll just need to take your time to properly locate them before installing.

Sorry to re dig up an old thread, but I'm in the middle of swapping my 86 K5 to a hydraulic clutch and have run into an issue. You can see in the picture below that my rod for the master cylinder dives straight into the stud on my clutch pedal for the return spring. This pedal assembly came out of a 84 K10, but I don't think the manual pedals changed any during that time. The pedal modification that @greesedog came up with might work except this stud is right in the way and is on the upper portion of the clutch pedal, not the removable part. Has anyone else run into this? I'm trying to figure out how to solve this without having to pull the whole pedal assembly out of the truck.

I have read a few times that the hydraulic pedal is different from a mechanical.

It is. But part of this thread is making the mechanical pedals work with the hydraulic system. I'm going to have to cut off that spring bracket to get this to work, just curious if anyone else had any suggestions based on how they did it.

I cut it off on my setup. Its about the only way you can make it work from what i remember.

Consider Frame twist when wheeling, what's going to happen with your Z bar linkage as this happens? .. Hydro clutch and a flexible line avoids all those issues.

Just starting to convert my th400 to NV4500. I have a hydro boost pedal setup and was wondering if it has a pedal return spring like the mechanical setup or does the spring on the internal slave cylinder force the fluid backwards and push the pedal back? I can't seem to find a part listing or reference for one anywhere, hence the question. Thanks.

This linkage does not look correct to me. Is it just me or is that not the correct Z bar? Where is that rod going that's supposed to go to the clutch pedal?

The hydro clutch pedal has a return spring up at the pivot point. It can be seen in this picture here if you look close:

Well, hopefully you can see it. Image quality may have been downgraded some.

Imho, it's really not necessary. The cobbled pedal also seen in the picture does not employ the spring and it works fine.

Went the other way... sort of. PO added a home-brew clutch pedal to an auto pedal hanger. I think it started life as a linkage style clutch pedal. The geometry was completely wrong, so I modified it further using a factory hydro clutch/brake pedal assembly as a model.
