Well the airtex e8090 pump I bought from Rockauto died today.I tried to get it warranted because it has a lifetime warranty. After filling out my Rock Auto warranty form including make year and model.(85 c10 305 4bbl) it was rejected and flagged on their system as no warranty, because it was installed on an incorrect application. No way to warranty into way to return it.I called Airtex. Prepurchase for their recommendation, called them again today to tell them about my trouble with Rock Auto and see if airtex would warrantee it.I was informed all warranties have to be handled through the original seller and Rock Auto isn't an airtex distributor they buy close out merchandise etc and my pump could be 35 years old and have been on a flood. That was what airtex told me.They said sorry, but 1from Summit they go through lots of stock so it's current. So we now know they lifetime warranties at Rock Auto are based off of if they choose to honor them.

Did you purchase it as a part listed under a 85 C20? Like, does their part search say that?

And it sounds like, if you read their warranty terms for limited life time, and you can prove your dont violate their terms then you could pursue legal action. But being its limited lifetime, you gotta read their fine print. Auto part stores the same thing. If their warranty says nothing about the application of the part, then you can go after them for fraud because they advertised it as a warranty that they would honor in the event it dont work. But it depends on the terms.

Top pic is from airtex website.E8090 is perfect for my truck and worked great for a while. The bottom pic is from Rock Auto site I like that it says universal and limited lifetime warantee, but universal or warrantee do not apply to a carburated GM truck
Airtex told me their newer pumps are built different due to today's fuels and by one from Summit to be sure I get a fresh product and a company to warrantee it.Pursueing legal action for a pump I have 35.00 sounds like throwing good money after bad.I will just inform everyone I can that shopping by brand and guarantee as I always have with Rockauto. Is not a guarantee you will get a good part or a guarantee.

I used to buy Airtex in tank pumps alot - when they were still made in Canada. Now all chicom and junk. I've even had them wired backward from the factory. OE Volvo intank pumps are reboxed Airtex with 90 day warranties and 3x the price.

Typically what I have done is go buy one at Autozone.....someplace thats a tad higher price, but no qualm lifetime warranty....that, and they are everywhere if ever there's a problem. Did that with the 2 Delco Pro pumps for my FI conversion.

Warranties, having to ship the parts back (I've had to cover shipping on THEIR mistake / defective parts out of the box), convenience, etc.....is why I dont buy more at Rock.

No I called airtex and asked what they recommend they said E8090 on my case so I went to Rockauto typed in E8090 which they had in their tools and Universal parts section.I am really pi$$ED.Guess I 'll go to Summit but I would have thought an E8090 from Rock would be the same and I sure thought they would honor their warrantee.I lost on an AC Delco starter I bought from them too. It died shortly but shipping back and forth was 1/2 the price of a starter so I just ate that. And bought 1 local.Im rethinking about where and what I buy.

I called Oreilly today they don't carry it. Oriellys an hour at least round trip AutoZone has to be 1.5 To 2 hrs. I guess I better call them tomorrow.Good info about airtex being junk, I thought they were a trustworthy brand, I think I'm done with rockauto too. Oreilly would have waranteed this no problem.

Airtex has a warantee, the guy was even surprised that Rockauto was giving me trouble, but as he said Rockauto doesn't buy from them and therefore can't return to them so I get the short end of this stick.Thats why he told me to order one from Summit.

The US borrows money from China that raises the national debt for stupid **** like the PPP. In return, China gives us ****, junk parts, Covid19 and refuses to keep our medical supply chains open during the pandemic they created.

When American CONSUMERS stop buying thier ****, better suppliers will step up. It's called "Supply and Demand." I refuse to buy anything Chinese anymore.

Yep I knew they bought close out parts. That's why I love them you get quality parts at a white box price. Some of them may be 25 years old but most of these things don't have a shelf life. I get what there saying about a flood, but you would have noticed rusty parts or a water stained box. NOT all their parts are overstock, auction or closeout parts. They do buy stuff new and they also buy or have stuff directly drop shipped from manufacturer as well.

I agree it does suck that they did you wrong and won't honor the warranty. But did you look this part up on their site from your truck model ? If so it would say that you ordered it for your square. Or did you buy it as a universal part from that portion of the website or just search the site for a part number? Edit: I see you answered this already.

I picked up 2 EP381 Delcos at AZ (there's 2 different ones - the one to have from every place I've read is the ones made in Brazil - and these are). I think they were about $100 each. They even had genuine Delphi strainers to go with. There's ones on feebay (even in AC Delco boxes) that are $49 and chi-com. Odd, but SKF bearings are the same way. Same boxes, same PNs but depending on the supplier, they're made anywhere from China, Viet Nam, Germany or Sweden. Go figure.

There is a reason Airtex pumps are 1/3 the cost. You need to buy 3 to make sure you get one that works. I work on a fleet of trucks and management, hoping to save money started using Airtex. Talk about repeat repairs, unit down time and towing costs.... I don't mind, that's job security for me. When I need a pump for my truck, it's a Delco.

Sorry you lost from Rock Auto.

Thanks man.lesson learned. The bitch is it says right on their site limited lifetime warrantee.I thought I was safe. Also didn't know Airtex had a bad rep I saw reviews that looked good on Summit and Amazon, thought I'd save a little at Rockauto. I don't even buy their cheap stuff because I don't like problems, but I guess that's not the only thing to look out for there.

I , 99.9 percent of the time will run an OE pump if it's electric.I even argue with my friends. No that's not a Chevy pump it's a cheap aftermarket pump that kinda fits your Chevy. The fuel pump lobe went flat on my cam ,190k I'm cool with that I have a fresh shortblock on my engine stand now just gotta finish it up but need the truck in the mean time.Who makes a decent affordable universal electric pump that will keep my truck mobile until the engine swap. Was the guy at Airtex full of excrement, and buying one from Summit won't be any better?
