Drove it to the mechanics and discovered that the noise was still there, so we will see what the diagnosis is.

I am still guessing either a ujoint or perhaps rear end bearings, but those are guesses.

I proved the old adage of "if you think it's an ignition problem, it's probably a fuel issue , and vice versa" correct. Last week it started cutting out and bucking, and did it on both tanks, so I figured ignition . Ordered a new hei refurb kit from Skip White. Waited a week and installed it yesterday . No change.

Checked fuel pump output and it was ok. Pulled and swapped the fuel filter, and appears to be fixed. Now have spare ignition module and fuel filter in the truck as insurance.

I dont know if I can still be a member in this forum.
I having some health issues dont have the energy to do any fixing on the projects that have been setting in the yard. My 78 K20 had been setting for a couple of years without being started.
A couple of weeks ago a guy wanted to buy all the 59 Dodge pickup components I had laying around. he brough along a helper, the helper seen the old brown 78 and asked Me about it. I told Him the story on the truck and He wanted it. Sold it to Him for 800 bucks, way less than I had invested but He is going to do a lot of work on it. He is also of the same mind as the way I wanted to go with old brownie and I handed to him all of the TBI components that I had gathered for a conversion.
I will send Him the web addy for GMSB and see if He will jump in here.
I think too that if the right deal comes along on a SB that will not require much work, a daily driver, that I will probably go for it.
I really would like a CC dually with the 6.2 diesel.

Stick around! Maybe your next SB will be from a lead from a member here, or even from a member here.

Or, you will buy that 78 GMC on the ebay postings thread.

Sadly, you were correct- the overfull was not the source of the noise.

Would have been too easy...

:p
Really didn't think that was your issue either. As to what it was??? My guess is a bearing somewhere. Which axle or spot in transfer case or wherever I have no idea.

Finished painting my tailgate, after 2-3 months of prep -- sandblasting, body work, and sanding, sanding, sanding, holidays, and lots of procrastinating. Painted it with Matrix single stage urethane over their primer sealer, then spent a few days color sanding and polishing. Would have been less color sanding if I knew what I was doing with the paint gun, but it looks pretty good from 10 feet. Now the rest of the bed looks crappy! Got the bumper on after this pic was taken.

I’d check the u-joints, they can make you crazy.
Mine made the “airplane “ sound, and then change pitch when you back out the pedal, squeak at low speeds. Got very hot to the touch.

Lol, I couldn't get in the Burb this morning, none of the buttons would push. After a few minutes of screwing with it, I could only get one door open. And it wasn't a front door unfortunately.
