Unless I am mistaken, isn't the actual frame manufacturing date stamped on the passenger side frame rail just ahead of the fuel tank (on the outside)? I know mine is...

My '76 is stamped just behind the passenger side motor mount on top of the rail.

Thanks i will check there.. mine has a stamp on the driver side right under the rusty hole in the floor. It has a part number and what I believe to be the manufacturer date. 8 100

See what you have now, nice tires and truck and shop btw... I would go with 4" Tuff Country springs sold at ORDs. If $ isn't a big issue and you want a really nice ride go with ORD's thin multi leaf packs. Get longer shocks and if you really want to off road that beast, umm you will still rub tires.

More details, 4 inch lift should have a raised pitman arm and you could use a shackle reverse setup also available from ORDs.
Serious off roading will require your front driveshaft getting lengthened.
Again, depends what you want to do with the truck. Not everyone has to get their truck twisted up every chance they get.

The factory front springs do curve downward. Upward would indicate a lift spring. Also are you sure the springs are 3" wide? Chevy springs are 2.5" wide, later Ford springs are 3" wide. If you measured the spacing of the bracket where the spring mounts it would be 3" because of the bushing.

Meaning, OEM springs have a negative arch, so if the arch is positive in the slightest, they're lift springs. Maybe just 2 inch. Many times guy will replace their front springs due to the negative arch thinking the springs have failed. Nope, that's normal for stock OEM lift height springs.

Thanks guys... I don’t plan on doing major off roading, it’s going to be more of a winter daily. I mostly want the truck to ride level and keep the rubbing to a minimum. I will probably have to massage the bottoms of the fenders to make a little more room. It’s no show truck so I’m not worried about the uglies. I just want to be able to do a u-turn without rubbing.
