Gross or net, it doesn't matter. They were both rated by the factory so there's still a 20 hp difference.
Can you imagine bolting a wooden anything on to your motor?? It's bad enough to have a vehicle with wood paneling on the side let alone on the motor
I have to say, even duct take and tie wire would have been better, but hey, give the guy credit for originality.
