What a wild ride!
Finally have Blister up and running. Well, has been for weeks, but been busy with work, Thanksgiving, plowing snow and the like.
I adjusted the butterflys, but broke one of the screws. Extracting the screw was pretty tough and I think I screwed up the threads.
Drilled it out and pop riveted the butterfly on. I peened end of the rivet so the shaft core couldn't fall into the intake.
Had I known rebuilt throttle bodies are as cheap as they are, I would have gone that route. Probably would have come out ahead.
It was still idling a bit high, but some driving time and that has come down.
And there was another problem that may have been contributing to the high idle.
I noticed that driving down the road, the fan belt would start squealing. I finally noticed that the volt gauge was dropping to 12 volts.
I was pulling a trailer home and also noticed the coolant temp was way high. It would go back to normal after a bit.
I got home, took the fan belt off and spun the alternator and the bearings were gritty.
Got a new alternator and belt and that problem seems to be fixed and it idles a little better too.
Kinda wondering if the alternator was locking up and causing it to idle higher as sometimes when I first start it, the belt would squeal for a minute or two. Maybe add some load onto the engine??
It's becoming quite a nice little truck now and I have basically fixed the original issue of it dieing at idle if you don't give it a little throttle.
In a new thread, I will talk about the trailer wiring I added to it. I went way above and beyond for that!
