See back in my day, all my street race buddies would come see me and of course I'd shove the sniffer in a different vehicle and plug in their VIN and Plate, make, model and year etc to get them to pass and give them a Cert. Before I got licensed, we'd have to put our stock engines and exhaust back on just to pass. Some of us were smart enough just to get a vehicle over 20 years old so it as expempt and why I ran 60's cars. But now I hear Cali stopped that 20 year old thing and froze it at 1975 and newer. Used to all diesels were exempt so a guy would buy a Squarebody with a diesel and gas swap it with a biggo honkin azz smoggy cam and headers. Well, now 97 and newer diesel has to be smogged. This is why I have kept my K10 that was originally a 6.2. But I hear if I was to bring it to Cali, I'd have to get 1 initial smog test at first then exempt from there. So that kinda kills that idea if it's true cuz I'm not putting a diesel in it just for the first year. Not like I'll move to Cali anyway.Correct
