Sometimes I see it at te OReilly's here in Central Texas, and it was also on the shelf at the local Grainger industrial supply place. Be prepared for some serious sticker shock - it has the words "Aero" and "Aviation" on the label, so a single spray can was over $40.00! I have yet to buy any but I am always told it is the absolute best.....
That sticker shock - it's real. Hence why I'm willing to try home brewing some.

Dangit.. I found a new fuel leak.. :( This time, I'm at a bit of a loss. It's coming through the choke mechanism on the side of the newly rebuilt Carb. :(
I think I may call the rebuild company and ask them if they know how it could be happening.
It's dripping right here and falling into the valley on the manifold.

Interesting.. talked with the carb rebuilt place and they said they obviously will stand by their warranty if needed and we can ship it back and recheck - however, first and foremost they recommended I check fuel pressure coming from the pump to see if its maxed out and causing flooding/dribbling issues. Symptoms of all that sound in alignment with how the engine is reacting as well, so I'm going to go that route before we ship it back to them to investigate further.
I'm guessing I will find out that my pump is dumping too much fuel into it all (this also couldve been my original issue too, even before I had them rebuild the carb). We'll see. TBD :D

Installed 85 grill and trim on my 83 to maintain Frankenstein status. It will need a little white touchup paint.

Oh, the joys of ownership [sarcasm].

Found the source of the funky noise while driving. And the glitter in the hubs. And why the new wheel bearings look the way they do. And the next major hurdle to putting the tow pig 'Pearl' back on the road. [Cumulative colorful metaphors]

Not entirely unexpected, I originally thought it was the pinon bearings that were the source of the weird noise, but somehow went down the rabbit hole of right side wheel bearings when I kept the left wheel stationary and then the noise showed up.

I will need to move the sway bar out of the way so I can pull the assembly out to change those bearings too because I'm certain that they are [redacted] too, living in the glitter oil as well. In for a penny, in for a pound. Hopefully the rest of the bits in there (spiders) aren't also grenaded.

At least there is some good news out of all this. New brakes both sides

One less thing to buy and do.

Now maybe it's time to seriously consider a 3.42 gearset..... this isn't going to be a racetruck after all, but a tow pig. A GearVendors is a lot more money I'd rather put into getting 9½ to 1 compression with. I've read a 14 bolt is relatively easy to set up and I suppose it's time to test the theory. But I will need to save up some money before I can find out. Time wise, this was a swift kick in the jewels too.

Oh, oh we're half way there...
Livin for my square... lol

Electric or mechanical pump?
Never seen a mech pump make too much pressure for any carb.

What’s up, been away for a while. Not a lot to report as done on the truck…. Been working to much as of late….. but I did find a 92 corvette 700r4 to take in and have rebuilt. Hoping to hear back from them today or early next week on condition of the core. I have another one to take him if need be. Getting the th400 case switch out in it, asked for a hardened sunshell and basically told him anything that’s gonna make this thing better and stronger I’m interested.

So hopefully I’ll have that in the next week or 2 and get it installed and get some new u joints in the drive shaft. Now I just need to find the ol qjet I use to run so my buddy can rebuild it again to this motor.

Me either but I had to put a regulator on the 68 C10 I had after a new pump an carb rebuild an it was still shooting gas out the vent an causing it to leak. It was a monojet carb on a 250 but still...

Mechanical. According to the carb rebuild tech - in the last year there has been a significant increase in mechanical pumps coming from the box that aren't working right and forcing too much pressure for old carbs. Supposedly Carter is one of the most reported issue ones (which this is a new Carter I put on couple months back). I'm going to get a gauge on it and see if its pushing more than 5 or 6. If so, I'll add a regulator to bring it back down and see if we're still flooding out and leaking.

What kind of pump did you get? I'm hearing Carters are struggling with quality these days..

If the pressure turns out to be correct - that'll be the next thing. Supposedly all that was replaced when they did the rebuild, so if the pump checks out okay - I'll ship it back to them to warranty it and recheck/fix the bushings they did.

...come across a distributor and a factory tach cluster out of a C65 with a blown big block.
To make that C65 fuel gauge work correctly, remove the resistor bolted to the back of the gauge, replace it with the resistor from your original fuel gauge.

The variable resistor in the C65 tank has a longer range of resistance (longer movement). The different resistors have a different color painted line.

This was one of GM's innovations when they first came out. It also did not need a small voltage regulator to power it. Kept the fuel needle from bouncing around too.

Bolted the bumper to determine if my fog lights would fit in the 82 bumper turn signal holes. It will require some metal cutting and welding of the bumper bracket which I don’t want to add to my to do list so I’m gonna look for a different solution similar to newer trucks with a circular light in the middle of the cutout. There were some holes along bumper bottom so I bolted them up to see if they could be mounted there, not sure I like them mounted there.
