14 Bolt 10.5" Rear Axle -FOUND-

Looking for a 10.5" rear axle, preferably from a K20 truck. Gear ratio and brakes do not matter. Primarily need a good housing with good spindles.

It's a 14 bolt full floater. Used from 73 onward in Chevy and GMC trucks the Escalade and Jeep.

4.10 and higher or 4.56 and lower gears because the carriers are different?

There is a guy on eBay selling stripped housings, prices are not bad, but freight may be a killer.

This is a drum brake rear end. This has the part number 26011826 and then the number 261 above that i believe. Buy More and Save!

Actually I have one out of a one ton square body, IIRC it's got 4.10 gears. Believe it came out of a C30....was many years ago, at the original Houston pick your part before LKQ bought em out.

So I guess I could have been more specific. It needs to be for the squarebody years, due to track width. A K20 unit is preferred due to perch spacing and shock mounts. I used to see complete units for sale all the time for 150-200 bucks, but those days of them being common might be over.

A C20 axle would work without much trouble, just replace/modify the shock mounts. A C/K30 axle could work, but different perch spacing and different shock mounts.

Ya those days are over I used to buy a complete trans for 75-100 bucks I just paid almost 400 for an empty TH400 case with shipping.

The C20 I have has a 9.5 ring gear, The K20 has the 10.5. Just my trucks, the C20 is a semi floater.

They did that on the GMT 400s too. My CCSB is a C2500 HD 8 lug, 8600# gvwr, but has the semi floating axle. IIRC the FF was an option on the 2500, standard on the 3500.

'81+, *most* K20's got the 9.5" axle. Lots of C20's got them too, but 454 trucks got the 10.5" axle standard and I think the diesel trucks too.

Pretty sure you know all this but...

Vans also were available with the 14B FF. It is the same track width as the D44/60 so all your tires look even.

They make a speedi sleeve for the spindles and also ORD sells the OBS style seal if you can't find an axle with good spindles.

Yep. I can make just about anything work. I just was hoping for a simple, direct swap so I don't end up with another snowball project.

I don't have it yet, but I do have an axle assembly lined up.

Don't turn down a newer axle... if you can find one.
Just not too new...

Can you cut/grind the perches off a 1997-ish and up GMT400 and weld on longer than stock perches where you need them?

I used an '04 Savana with dual piston calipers on my '55 6100. I had to relocate the spring & shock perches but I love the added track width that evens the front & rear.

Those are a great axle to use. A little difficult to find and/or expensive though. Those axles are one of the reasons I bought all them 6.6L ambulances... but I couldn't bring myself to part any of them out. Yet. I still have two of them, if one loses and engine or trans, parts are fair game then.

The reason I just want a stock K20 axle is because I broke the axle in the camo truck. The right side tube has completely separated from the pumpkin, it's already been welded before and it no longer fits snug at all. I just want to swap over the 5.13's, welded carrier and the existing disc brake conversion to another housing. I also want to keep the same track width.

A nice guy I've met before up in Michigan has an axle assembly that I'll be picking up in the near future.

We had a 79 C30 car hauler that the tube broke out of the center section. Makes for a bad day for certain. I understand wanting a direct swap for the ease of the job too.
