my c10 is actually sitting in the paint booth, waiting for compressor repairs. Waiting on a part for week or two now....box of paint and supplies sitting right outside the paint booth door....ready, willing, NOT ABLE.....so close
I feel your pain. Similar circumstances here.

Soon I’ll be down to just washing bolts in the parts cleaner to have something to do.

I haven't had a chance to do anything on mine except pull the dash and the driver door panel off. I think I have finally collected all the parts that I need for the changes I want to do, but I've been busy ripping out and re-arranging my whole garage space. Hoping to get it the rest of the way cleared out this weekend and then I can pull the K20 in to start doing all the things. When I pulled the dash I was able to see that I have a pretty consistent water leak on the lower drivers side of the windshield. So first step will be pulling it in and yanking the windshield out. I'm sure it will have some rusted out sections on the window frame that will need to be repaired, then rip the whole front end off, cut the floor to fit the new seats, replace some metal on the cab, install the new EFI motor and transmission, sound deadening and stereo system install, then install all the new/cleaned up interior and put the new windshield in.

Side note... if anyone has a drivers side 1980 rectangle headlight bezel in decent shape, I'd love to buy it off you.

Like the Bon Jovi chorus says,
"oooh I'm half way there, ohh oh livin for my square. Another Rock order and I'll make it I swear, ohh oh livin for my square. Livin for my square!" :893karatesmiley-thu

Carb is on, (might have just been a nylon seal issue) now starter won't run. Lol. Half way there my ass.

I have been to NCDMV every day this week with 6 trips but finally got my 79 registered. I'm enjoying my first sunset with it legal to drive.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha I love getting old. Apparently, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. Yes, it ends up my leak was a second nylon gasket in the filter housing. I had one on the filter housing but didn't see another one hiding in the well. FFS, I swore I looked in there before I put a new filter in. So, it ends up the pop sound I heard was the extra gasket letting out its death wail. At least it wasn't the housing going cracked on me.

Ricko 1966 gave us the info for the repair bung and I went to their site looking for a phone number, but all they offered was an email address. I never have gotten a response, must be the universe looking out for my silly a$$. So, that's another one off the list. Ends up the no swirl problem is the neutral safety switch deciding to exit the chat. Jumped it and it swirled right over, and 10 seconds later the float bowl filled and I finally got to take that LONG anticipated test drive to see if the damned thing is going to be something I'm going to put effort into.

The answer is YES! Now I don't think I got out of second gear due to the short side street I took for a cop free test (expired tags), but the next step will be to put the 14ff on stands and see if the th400 will shift all three gears. Brakes are high on the list next, the left front caliper is the only front working and I have a kit to see if I can bring the right one back. Hoses, master and whatever I find out back will be on the list along with most likely new bearings and seals all the way around.

It's hard to express how much stress over this project was lifted off my mind this afternoon just being able to go down the side street a quarter mile down and back. I know, simple pleasures for simple minds. But when you live on nearly nothing every month, you learn to appreciate the small victories. A perfect and fitting cap for a Friday out on the lower Columbia River delta at the radio ranch.

Edited to add: The "local" radio station about 50 miles upstream from here in Ojinaga Chi MX is XEOG, Radio Ranchito

You sound like me and my buddy Bernard, when we'd been working on my truck for several days, to get the fuel pump changed out(97 so pump is in the tank, and the truck is built around the tank). When I hit the key after reconnecting the battery, and it started right up, that was a beautiful and very welcome sound!

Believe I’m gonna be purchasing a rebuilt 700r4 this next week. Found a local shop that will do a rebuild for $1250 with converter. Need to check the one I have and see what input spline it is. I’m hoping it’s a 30. Gonna ask them about a shift kit, small stall 2000-2200 and lock up only in 4th gear.

Every other shop has quoted 2000-2800… so 1250 came as a bit of a shock but have a few friends that have used the guy and been happy so figure give it a go. Comes with a 12 month 12,000 warranty so hopefully works out.

Just to put it out there... have you ever had a tranny with a "shift kit"? Personally, I don't like them.
