I built a "fuel" pump to test the LS on the test stand using a small helium tank from work (hospital). I'll be building another just for gear and transfercase oil. Drill/tap a hole in the bottom for an a/c coupler. Then put a blower thingy on the other end with a hose that goes into the fill. Set to 10 lbs or so and pull the trigger. No more pumping with the crappy stuff from local stores getting arm cramps and such.
Thought I'd share.

Good idea! I might have to copy it because it did take forever with the little hand pump I had and 85/140 gear oil.

Oh yeah, gear oil is some slow stuff to get moving. Our '75 GMC Burb with the Cadillac running gear, when we got it the rear axle was leaking. You can imagine how much fun it was, trying to get 140W gear oil to pump out of the bucket, with a hand pump... especially since it was in January and close to freezing. Not the best time to be under a Burb.....

For those unfamiliar, in '79 and other years there's a clip that secures the L shaped piece to the lock cylinder. That particular clip does NOT come in the kit from Standard, so don't bonehead and break or lose it. It will stop you cold. Lucky me, it's warm out tonight. An extremely easy r&r, and now look at what decades of neglect look like concerning the window track...

Now, that's a bit of schmutz to get cleaned off. No wonder the window is so crabby.But after that, this was the best feeling. One more off the list, of the original sins.

I gave it a like but could have gone with a YIKES! Good news is new parts is cheaper and easier than that cleanup. Slap a couple new window regulators in it and enjoy the next 40 years of buttery, soft window cranking!
Also thanking the Squarebody gods for the nice clean smooth operating regulators and locks in both my squares.

I bought a complete set all key'd the same ignition, glove box and doors and those 2 clips for the door lock pawl were included. Mine looked just like yours!

Cause that's how folks survive in that part of the state..... I'm guessing Alpine is probably the closest big town.... Used to have a musician/songwriter friend who lived in Alpine. When he was going to do some Texas gigs, he and his wife would drive one day to Austin, overnight with his stepson, then the next day go to Houston or DFW.

This showed up this morning.
Prepped and primer with some scotch bright in between to smooth it out and scuff for paint.
First coat I'll leave this cure overnight scuff and shoot it again. Single stage in a can for that 20 foot paint job.
I'll tape it off and Por 15 the back side last.
Was looking over the ones on it there's got to be 5lbs of dirt down in the structure front and rear of both fenders and 10lbs of Bondo keeping it in there.

I called LS Fab about this filler last Wednesday. Got an answering machine said they return calls in 1 business day. Still haven't heard from them 
Jokes on them, I got it to close/fit better anyways.
Painted it up an installed it for the last time hopefully.
Got the bed trimmed for the sending unit an put back on.
However I'm not optimistic that its going to fill very well at all. The cap they have ends at the bed floor an the tank fill is also basically on the bed floor. Its going to have to have a 90 like 3" below the cap an then a 45 or so to the tank. An i gotta get from 1.5" to 2" in there somewhere.
