Alright !!! Let the cookin begin !!! You put a Tablespoon of baking soda for every gallon of water??? That thing there should clean pretty easy and probably won't even get the water to funky cuz of the amount of water to the size of the intake. But it looks like the right set up. You should start seeing some bubbles coming to top slowly just about anytime now.

How did you dispose of your dirty water? lol just pour it out?

I would pour it in a storm drain instead of a sewer drain. And I HOPE you're doing this OUTSIDE! One of the main concerns is the hydrogen gas buildup, and subsiquent explosion.

Lol nah its in my garage

Just cleaned the copper. Was a little dirty

Gunna let it go for maybe another 10-20 then shut it off for the night

I hope its OK, but I let mine sit a day unplugged, then dumped it down the driveway into the gutter. I just looked like water after sitting for a day.

I did mine outside in between my truck and my garage door and left it to cook all night by iteself after watching it for the for the first 2 hours.

I hope you have fire insurance, and your garage isnt attached to your home. It might be ok if there isnt any kind of open flame heater in the garage but the fireworks you speak of could potentially light it off if it was concentrated enough. If you shut it off for the night, the next time you turn it on have a grill lighter handy and try to light the bubbles when they start. The hydrogen bubbles pop like a small firecracker and a little light show. A large concentration of the gas shows a pretty reddish flame, and a very loud report.

BTW BearMan, What amperage are you cooking at??? I assume when you say copper is getting dirty, its turning green??

NO doubt, it'll work with enough time. Get some baking soda or washing powder to add to it next time you fire it up. Also what amperage are you using??? I did mine on 10 amp, and think it would have worked better on 40, so I got a 10/40 160 amp start unit now. Next time I do it, It'll be cooking real good.
