Got a 140 amp alternator nothing wrong with the old one but I'm not shure what the amps are, I didn't want to wait till after the 12,000lb winch to find out I need more juice

Realized I was cutting it super close on my tags (my bday is August 23rd) so I ran to the tag office this morning to do both trucks. Asked if I could run this stamped '85 tag I scored on eBay last year and she said yes! They needed a picture of it so I stuck it on and emailed the picture in, told the lady "excuse the mess, it's a never ending project" lol

Sprayed PB Blaster down the fender drain holes and through the triangular hole in the passenger front fender. I noticed some rust above the wheel trim today ...

I then proceeded to blast the drivers side with compressed air.

Look at what came out ! Too ironic.

See the doohickey on the end of the wire, the one that fits on the junction block?

Damn if I didn't somehow catapult that wire terminal into infinity and beyond somewhere between teardown and refurb. Oh well, made a jumper with all the leftovers laying around and moved on. It's nice having key control without having to run out under the hood and hit switches to manipulate the big block to life. Almost like a real truck now. The guages seem to be reviving too, so now it is time for another punch list and to do a walk around and see where the lighting deficiencies and electrical failures are.
Next big push will be to get it to run on its own fuel tank and delivery system. But getting it to "turn key" is a big convenience factor as well as a project mood booster, both sorely needed. I'm a happy camper today. I suppose I will carry on with 'Pearl' after all.

Put it through a rough work out. Drove it from Vancouver, Washington to Chugiak, Alaska, 2500+ miles over the Alcan Highway. Stopped between Watson Lake and Whitehorse and removed the brake light switch, took it apart, cleaned and reassembled it. Then I had brake lights again. Then about 100 miles before Whitehorse I noticed smoke behind me in the mirror. Automatic transmission input seal was leaking. Luckly, I brought some oil with me and limped into Whitehorse. Stopped by Canadian Tire and bought 20 liters of fluid, hoping to make it to Tok Alaska. It resealed itself somewhat and I found if I kept the speed at 45 to 55 kept the engine in the 180-190 degree it didn't leak as bad. Checked the trans level every 25-30 miles adding fluid as needed. Made it home, about 800 miles, with all the gears still working. Now to pull the trans, replace all of the external seals and gaskets, clean up the underside of the truck and reinstall the transmission. It will be a wintertime project.
