Remember when round wood bead seat covers were the craze back in the 70's? I started thinking about them and wondered if they could work on a bench seat. A quick search revealed that there are a lot of them still being offered. The issue is that they are designed for bucket seats. I did find one that looks like it would fit nicely on a bench seat but the seller claimed it was for a bucket seat because of the elastic band to hold it in place. Are any of you using one of these and how does it work for you. The one in the picture is $36.00 for two with free shipping. The width, which didn't show up in the picture, is 16".

I would saddle blanket before beads. Note, my idea of riding a horse is twisting its ears to make it go. No offense to our western members. lol

wow - what a cool question, I remember those and hadn't thought about them for ages!

Maybe we should have an "8 track repair and upgrade" thread also - maybe we already do ?...

While they say bucket seats, I bet it would sit just fine on a bench seat

I don't think we do. I've got an under dash 8-track player I would love to put back into use, but it has needed a new belt since I got it in the 90's.

We had those in the 79 Burb since it had the vinyl high top buckets and no AC. They do help some as the air can circulate under you. One thing I learned about them pretty quickly...if you or someone who rides in your vehicle, on these, has long hair...you do not want your ponytail or hair getting caught in these!!!

I'll keep you posted on how I like mine when I get it installed and secured.
Is this for the nostalgia effect or therapeutic effect? Cause wood bead seat covers came right outta left field here. Since I presume you’re not wearing flip flops driving a turban suburban…

I read an article in the Hagerty Drivers Club magazine which made me start thinking about them. The author had an early model Ranger pickup that he was in love with. His only compliant was how uncomfortable the seat was and after about an hour, his leg and back began to hurt. He wanted to take the truck on a 2,800 mile round trip so he thought he would try to find one of these covers and evaluate it on the way. This was a very good story with a lot of details and the end result was that it greatly helped with the pain problems.

My seat isn't uncomfortable but since I drive the truck whenever I need to go somewhere, I thought I would try one and if it wasn't a bother, maybe it would save wear and tear on the seat cover. That's why I wanted to figure out a way to keep it in place when I enter and exit the truck.
