I have a 85 C10 two speed wiper system. I bought a new wiper motor and replaced it. I also replaced the wiper switch in the column. This does not have the delay system. So when I turn on the wiper switch it turns on the dash lights and not the wipers. I performed the wiper test using a jumper at the connector at the base of the steering column and when using the jumper to ground I can get hi and low speed to work.

Did I short out the new switch possibly? Any help would be great. I’m to the point that I may just run a toggle switch to ground to at least get the wipers working.

Try putting the term "Wipers" in the search box to see if any previous threads may help. I'm lost with your issue, sorry.

No idea, but a question- does the dash light switch work for the lights ?

I am at a loss as to what wiring in the column could cause the dash lights to come on as the only other wiring in the column is for the turn signal switch and cruise if equipped.

Check and clean all grounds. Suspect feedback from a poor ground. There are several behind the dash and of course body, and engine.

Yes dash light switch still works as it should.

Man these grounds are killing me. I will do some more ground checks this weekend. Oh yeah the wiper washer works as it should. It’s really confusing.
