I have a 1980 gmc c1500 with a 4.1L v6 250 engine in it. I will be driving and it will sputter really bad then die. I will put it in park and fire it back up then it dies again after driving 100 feet. I just put gas in it. I have no clue what's wrong with it, any ideas?

UH, if it's a 250 and a 4.1, maybe it's an inline 6????? or a 4.3 V6??

Fuel filter, fuel pump, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, dirty carburetor... These are some of the things that it could be. What is the maintenance history?

Check all of those things. Start with the filters.

This. Just had this happen to me recently. Fuel filter was the culprit. Had a little sediment in the gas tank, and I let the tank run a little low. Clogged it right up- new fuel filter and it was like nothing ever happened.
