I don’t generally carry much or anything for parts, not intentionally at least. If I do it’s likely I was storing it in the vehicle and didn’t remove it before a trip.

I do carry a 3 drawer craftsman toolbox with a pretty comprehensive set of tools however that moves between what I am driving. Only once I have used them for a vehicle repair- when the fuel pump crapped out in the 76 leaving Milwaukee when I picked up my planer.

Otherwise the tools I carry because I like to buy machinery and often stuff needs to be disassembled before transit for one reason or another. Or stopping at a junkyard.

Under the moving blankets was a DeWalt radial arm saw, Delta 8” cast iron base jointer, and a Delta shaper.

Damn that truck looks just like one I used to have. She was a good girl.

It slammed down the fender onto the tire and started smoking furiously like a NASCAR burnout. I pulled over and removed the fender.

One of my leaders had a tire on the trailer blowout just as he entered a tunnel on the PA green stamp. By the time he got out of the tunnel the shredded trailer tire ripped the fender loose. Out of the tunnel, changed the flat and removed the bent up fender.

What is it with trailer tires anyway??

Speaking of green stamp tunnels, I was going through the Lehigh tunnel southbound in a tractor trailer. I had one in front of me I was following. As soon as he exited the tunnel his trailer started to sway back and forth. It was a Yellow truck pulling 2 pups. The rear one let go and rolled off to the side of the road. That was perfect timing for me I will say.

I drove from Oklahoma to Prairie Village Kansas on a charged battery, dead alternator,no lights no radio etc. Didn't turn it off so no cranking. To be fair this was a long time ago I was pulling a trailer with another vehicle on it. So it is possible I swapped in the battery from the other car at some point. I do not remember doing it,but it is possible. I think carrying a spare alternator isn't something I'd worry about. If it does fail even if your not close to home you are within battery distance of a parts store.
When my not yet wife and I first met, her and her sister joined me in my hometown, and I showed them the sights. The following day we drove all over the place, multiple places that were high elevation, 9,000, 11,000, etc. I kept seeing the check engine light come and go out throughout the day. Never thought twice about anything going wrong. Coming down from 11,000 it was dusk, by the time we got to the main highway it was dark. Turned south to head back to the hotel, almost to the south end of town I looked down to scan the gauges and they were all dead except the tachometer. I told them we are running off the battery and we'll snuggle up behind the vehicle in front and go until the vehicle dies. The headlights got dimmer and dimmer, and about halfway the engine died. Got towed back, had to buy a new battery the next day, and barely got home. The volt gauge kept showing lower and lower, I know from a previous experience that if it gets to 10 it dies. I got home with it just above 10....PHEW! New alternator, good as new...lol...

Not parts, as much as tools.
Yeah, new cars, wallet, IPhone and beer and extra clothes and tow straps if it’s winter time.
But with the more recent advent of driving the squares around and the old Jeep, I did get a free AAA membership from T-Mobile iirc. Upgraded to the 100mi towing for cheep.
But road trips I generally bring my to go bags of tools. Couple decent size bags that contain enough stuff to do most straight forward repairs both mechanical and electrical. Tire plug kit, a Viair compressor, etc.
Aside from the SRT not having a spare tire, I’ve found it’s much easier in most cases to plug a punctured tire than to change it on the side of the road.
I remember my dad always packed some tools before road trips when I was a kid and all we had were “old cars”.
One of the first road trips I took in HS with a buddy and a couple girls, I didn’t subscribe to that plan even though we were in my “old” 70 Impala. I lost part of the carb base plate somewhere in Wisconsin and ragged er to the next town at high rpms to keep it running with the massive vacuum leak.
Was embarrassed when I had to “borrow” a couple wrenches and screwdriver from the Napa to fix it in the parking lot.
Learned my lesson.

The cooler was implied.
You have the little "5-Gallon-Buckets"! I bought two at the local hardware store around Christmastime, too cool to not get some. I use mine as a pencil holder at work. They are perfect size to hold a bottle of beer or some other vessel of beverage

it's a sickness, I actually have them from 13 different stores

The 40 year old cup holders don't fit a big Yeti cup unless you put the little buckets in it first.

Basic hand tools. These trucks are so common and simple, any decent parts store more than likely will have anything to fix minor roadside problems.

My Olds on the other hand, for big road trips I pack a spare water/fuel pump. I try to carry common wear items that part stores don’t stock anymore . I don’t bother with belts, any decent store will have a belt close enough to get by.

Yeah it's one of those where you grab them without thinking...lol... I was getting a quart of paint and saw them sitting where they mix it, and the little buckets were in my basket before I could even tell them "just plain white" for the color...lol...

Ignition module+heat sink pate', fuses, fuel filter, some 3/8 and 5/16 fuel hose, belts, assortment of hose clamps, two long plug wires, H4 bulbs, couple tail and turn signal bulbs, zip ties, electrical tape, juices (qt oil, gal of 50/50 coolant, DOT 3 for brakes/clutch), duct tape, JB Weld...
I get it, if one lives where there are parts stores. I don't and closest is 80 miles away. Compounding this, there are huge areas around here with no cell service to call someone to help out/tow etc, especially the back roads where I go. My duty station in CA was even more isolated. So back then I started carrying parts in a small Rubbermaid tub. Water pump, fuel pump, stuff I posted before earlier. Of course the tools as well + tire plug kit, Viair, n stuff. I gotta be self sufficient out this way...
