Why would you want to do that?

So the round part of the U bolt are on the bottom of the axle I makes it for better ground clearance.

That is right side up, hence the name "U"bolt.....

Upside down would have you're bolts chewing rocks.....

Alot of stock you bolts go face down where the bolts are on the leaf spring and the bolts on the bottom. The ones I picked up from school make it so the bolts are on the top.

I've never seen a Square bend U-bolt on a Squarebody...

EDIT: Guess 1-tons have them that way.

That they may be, and that is "upside down"...

It could be done for several reasons, but technically they are still "upside down"...

So in essence, you turned yours right side up....

Yup, on the 1-tons.

Yes, the ends are square because they go over the springs, the springs aren't round. Still called u-bolts though.

They did it for frame clearance. The 1-tons have the springs mounted closer to the frame, if the nuts are on top they can run into the bumpstop bracket. Like this:

I've thought about doing what Clean did, then thought about selling these 2 I have and haven't done anything with them yet. They were bought for a project but plans changed. Still used the Tach and the Trio but now these lay around.

My wife sewed up a new seat cover and we installed that after I patched the giant worn hole in the foam.
Installed new carpet sinse it had the old stuff removed before I bought the truck.
Reinstalled the freshly covered seat.

Rebuilt the steering column. All the tilt bolts were loose or completly out and the shifter drum was broken and missing a big piece along with a worn out ignition switch.
Bought another tilt column that came with the keys that was also falling apart for $20.00 and used the good parts from it to rebuild mine. The ignition switch was brand new. Rusty is coming along.
