Coolness. We have concrete ramps like that here at work and I always want to get pics like that but I am afraid my Burb won't return to it's original shape after I ramped it. :roflbow:

I got the New Stant Premium Tstat installed. It did have one in it, but it was a fail safe hung full open. That's the 2nd Fail Safe I've seen Fail this way now. I'm starting to lose my faith in Fail Safes, so I went with a good quality NON Fail Safe this time. It was $7.99 instead of the economy $3.99 unit. Looked to be of heavier metal and a stiffer spring so hopefully it will work. My truck calls for the 192/195 Tstat since it's an original CCC truck. I'm not using the CCC system so I went with a 180. That's about what a daily driven Non race SBC loves to live at. Race SBC's love 160's.

Also replaced the temp sender for the gauge, didn't fix the gauge, so more work to do there. Also added another 2 prong coolant switch. My secret. I'll play Show N Tell when I get that one done.

The Fail-Safe in my Blazer stuck open right away, so I removed it and unstuck it and then put it back in. It stuck wide open the first time. The Fail-Safe in the Camaro has never been right since new either, sometimes too cool and sometimes too warm. Junk.

yep, they hang open to easy. Not using them anymore. I did keep it for a spare though. I just broke the fail safe lugs off so it works like a non fail safe. Sprayed it with WD-40, put it in a zip lock bag, sealed it, and behind the seat it went.

Ive used fail safes in everything ive ever put a t-stat into an never had any problems out of them. Hell i froze my s-10 solid two years ago and thawed it out and its been fine up to the point the tranny fubared on me and i stopped driving it.

The good thing is, they've never left me stranded, but they've left me without a heater and a cold running motor.

Yep, I used to preach ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, spend the $9-$10 and get Fail Safe rather than $4 for the El Cheapo. I won't anymore. The last 3 I've bought stuck open within 6 months and you know I don't drive them that much. :crazy: They're to much Fail Safe if you ask me. I think they'd do better if they'd put the catch a bit higher in the frame.

Maybe thats the problem with you not driving them that much and they are sitting there. You know just like if you dont drive a truck how they seem to break just sitting there maybe its happeneing to your t-stats too.

Installed a new dome light bulb. Took me a while to figure out what kind of bulb it was, it's not a regular festoon bulb. Turns out it takes a #1004 bulb. The only place that had any in stock was Advance Auto. I also put in my rear view mirror out of the 87'. The one in the 84' was garbage.

Learned of a potential issue pairing ORD reverse shackle kit with my Rancho 2.5" springs.....

...easily fixed by swapping in 56" springs...that I just happen to find localy on CL for $25

Also secured a set of ORD zero-rate blocks from a member here in case of need when these go in.
