Yup, first thing I do is tap the race down to free up the clip. I was using a circlip plier with pointy tips, since it's always worked in the past. When it kept popping off I went to a long nose plier which was better but kept slipping off. Today I will try a vice grip needle nose so my wore out ole painful hands can concentrate on getting the ring out instead of that AND holding the ring together.

Whose that weirdo? Oh, it's me hahaha

Side question - which is the preferred method for pre lubing the wheel bearings? 90W soak or hi-temp grease? It seems like the last guy used too much grease. I'm leaning towards the 90W soak.

What's your favorite method?

Definitely not grease. I like to pour lube into the hubs before sliding the axles in.

These hood hinges have been soaking in Blaster for days and are still seized up, guess I'll have to swap my other hinges on and put these springs on them. Was trying to avoid messing with the springs if possible.

I've never tried Kroil cuz I've never run across it in a store but I use the hell out of PB Blaster. Works great 99% of the time but man is that stuff nasty
You can usually find it at a hardware store, or a mom and pop auto parts store. I couldn't find it here, but when I went to Texas in 2017 for my wedding, I had a license plate light go out and ended up at mom and pop Napa store and bought a 24 or 30 ounce can of it. Big can! I later found some here, a small can like 3-in-1 oil comes in, so it can be applied with a dripper nozzle or whatever it's called, it's non-aerosol, whereas, the big can is aerosol.

Our owner has a small dripper can in his Alfa area and he swears by it. But I've never used it cuz I just typically don't touch his stuff lol

I'm just going to swap the other hinges over, I've already done the hard work of heaving the hood up there. I need to get the inner fenders off and into the scrap heap anyway, I have pretty much everything I need off the original cab now.

Dangit.. I found a new fuel leak.. :( This time, I'm at a bit of a loss. It's coming through the choke mechanism on the side of the newly rebuilt Carb. :(
I think I may call the rebuild company and ask them if they know how it could be happening.
It's dripping right here and falling into the valley on the manifold.

I have both the aerosol and the drip style; each has its own 'application' applications. Being in rainforest moistureville, I find it helpful more often than not.

I also bought a gallon of acetone for mixing up some home brew kroil and putting it in the drip can as well as a dedicated spray can, the style you fill with your favorite fluid and charge off shop air. 50/50 acetone and atf.

As usual, I haven't got around to it yet. I'm told it's as good as the store bought mix.

Sometimes I see it at te OReilly's here in Central Texas, and it was also on the shelf at the local Grainger industrial supply place. Be prepared for some serious sticker shock - it has the words "Aero" and "Aviation" on the label, so a single spray can was over $40.00! I have yet to buy any but I am always told it is the absolute best.....
