Went to early morning “Cars and Coffee” cruise-in today. Lots of cars, many of which I had not seen previously.

Blazer was very popular, although my brake parts cleaner coffee mug was the big hit! Lol

Looks like a great outing! I wish we had that kind of thing around here. There’s some car shows and Cars and Coffee meetings, but the JDM presence is big and usually overruns the American classics. Not that I have a problem with JDM- as long as it’s something a guy/gal is into and is wrenching on themselves, more power to them.

The Hooptie Cruise is something put on by the local custom shop and I try to attend those but they’re always on Sunday and that’s the one day we have together as a family.

I see your point. I'm still looking at maybe putting the 6x9s in the cab corners with these.

I've got tweeters in the top corners behind me and with the tweeters in the front I think it will keep the stereo sound. Haven't decided yet. Also was going to stop by my buddy's stereo shop and get some ideas from him.
Here's my setup so far, mocked it up to make sure it works then removed everything so I could install the vinyl floor which is still in progress!

Today is a mental “what am I doing”. I’ve saved a little cash and in the next month I should be able to order parts for the next thing I want to dig into.

Interior? Maybe. Lots of inspiration on here to do that. But drives fine without it.

Cylinder heads/cam/pushrods/rocker arms redo? Upside is more durability with screw in studs and guide plates, and pick out the cam I want. Downside is I don’t know if I’ll ever drive it faster than I do now.

Also tossed around the idea of a different set of wheels (unlikely) or Holley EFI to chase the golden goose of perfect AFR and cold starts. But it’s hard to beat the reliability of a carb and mechanical pump and for every success story, I hear a nightmare to counter it.

I suppose I could finally get that firewall block off plate to clean up the engine bay and get rid of that ugly unused A/C stuff. Hmm.

The second grille I picked up last week has been staring at me every time I go into the garage. I couldn't take it any longer and decided to try and fix the broken grills and repaint it.

I decided to go with a black grill and silver for the main areas. In hindsight I should have tried one of those chrome paints. Maybe it would have made it look nicer, but for now it will do.

Couldn't find any of the Testors paint up here, so I tried some of this other enamel I found at a local hobby store. Orange was too light, so I added a bit of red to get a bit deeper color for the GMC on the grill.
I repainted the GMC on the other grille as well. Looks good I think.
I am not sure which grille I like better, but the silver one is on there now and we will go with it.

Didn't realize until I was finished that I should have removed one of the grills at the centre section for access to the hood latch. I can reach the latch fine, but maybe I will need to remove it if it becomes an issue.
I was able to score one for my 78 K25. It's missing a few bars around the hood release & I'm gonna use some from a donor 85+ grille hopefully.
Nice work you have there.

Believe it or not, we took the dually to the carwash for the first time for a rinse before taking it to the local show. Took the top layer dust off lol

Chad, It seems like you really want/should get to the firewall block and get rid of the AC stuff.

Just got my new to me, used drivers vent window assembly delivered from Missouri today from none other than @legopnuematic , Spencer!!

The packaging was quite exceptional, and very well done. This window is in much better condition than my drivers vent window, and as Spencer told me: still functions as it should.
Eventually I am planning to post when installing/installed.
Anyone have a passenger side vent window in decent shape, still functioning, that you would be willing to sell?
Thanks again Spencer!!

I've done a bunch of snipers, installed, tuned, fixed bad installs etc. Don't put a bunch of stock in the horror stores. Sure there are bad ones sometimes but at least 90% of the issues people have are not the snipers fault. They just blame it because it was the last thing they did, or it was an underlying issue with the motor they didn't know of because the carb was able to mask it. I could write a book on the dumb s**t people do when they install these things an won't even read the dang manual.

I've seen enough of your posts an your work on the carb to know you pay enough attention to details that you wouldn't have many issues from one.

Now since you've dialed your carb in super close the only thing you'd gain is cold start warm up and not having to disassemble the carb to change jets/rods because you'd be doing it on a laptop. There is a pretty steep learning curve on the software an tons of options on how you want to do things that people don't even look into as well because they are advertised as "self-learning". The only thing it learns is your base fuel table. Things like your accelerator pump shot, cold/warm starts, idle speeds, timing (which i don't recommend with a sniper 1 anyhow) all have to be manually tuned an 90% of people wont even download the free software....

Thanks for that, and that’s pretty shocking that people can’t even be bothered to get the software. I have heard the Sniper 2 is better- one horror story I watched unfold was where a Sniper damaged in shipping, and just getting it warrantied through Holley was a nightmare- they told him that since he had installed it, it couldn’t be returned (how would a guy know if it was defective if he didn’t have a chance to run it?) and it took him the better part of a year to get it resolved. But the worst part was since he bought it as a kit, he had to send EVERYTHING back and uninstall the whole thing. At that point he didn’t want the heartbreak of another issue so he went back to a carb and mechanical pump. So I guess the lesson learned there would be to piece together my own kit, in case the main unit were to fail, I could send that back alone.

The main thing though is, it runs pretty good as it is, and I don’t think it’s worth the effort (at this point in time) to spend the cash to make it 15% better at most I’m leaning toward AFR heads to get rid of the press in rocker studs as of now. Thanks for the input, bud.

Drove it this afternoon. It has been stowed away for several days. My brakes have been squealing, so for a temporary fix I sprayed the calipers and discs up front with some Brakleen. I had to hear if it helped and I had to shake the cobwebs off.

Little Orb Spider had a nice home. They sure make cool, intricate webs. Not many here, but once in awhile I'll find one in the backyard and admire the near perfect shape. They hide behind the "line' in the middle.

So much wrong, I can't do it wire by wire installed. Out it comes.

Donor harness. It has problems too, but lucky me, the parts I need for mine are still unmolested.

Awaiting reinstallment after the big refurb.
