Theres a special place in hell for DIY electronics "specialists"

Damnit i hate that ****.
I hate facing it, but i try to take my time and do it right when i do wiring in the truck....

Since my burb has never been molested however wiring is l original
Dude you should see the wiring on this 78 I’m working on. Let’s set aside the fact it has no rust, and it has metallic bronze under flat black rattle can paint, and a 502, the “wiring” that the previous owner did is absolutely absurd. Deleted the turn signal switch connector, and spliced in all the same color wires. The aftermarket tach wiring was also a mess, white was running into the hot end of a fuse, the ground was jammed into another blade connector, and the brown leading to the hei was def not brown but 3 pieces of red/green/black. I don’t even wanna tell ya about the fuel tank selector switch wiring

Tore down the pass rear brakes. And they're trash. So I'm going with the rebuild kit for both rear wheels. The cylinders push rods are impossible to get. The ones I got from Napa are to short I'm afraid.

I think after putting this on my brakes should be good to go. New drums, shoes, cylinders and springs should be able to lock them up. Lol

Push pins are trash

One of the main reasons I bought this kit was new push rods come with it. Not gonna cheap out on brakes anyway. Really not that expensive anyway. After getting to take it apart and put back, it's not as bad as I'd thought. It needs to be done for safety purposes.

Changed out the fuel pump. That’s #2 that seized. Can’t remember what brand the first one was, second was a Delphi. This one is supposedly a Genuine GM AC Delco pump, I sure hope it lasts. That’s not a fun job. Not terrible, but not fun

Well boy have I been a slouch lately. What have I done or what do I need to do? Well the big projects are adding a second gas tank, since my truck is a single tank and I'm not happy with the range. I've got the tank assembled and ready to go in and have had it ready for who knows how long, ran into the receipt and I bought the tank last September. I gotta get this done.... Rear end re-gear. It's coming one of these days. Hopefully before summer.

What have I done. Well today I did wash, wax and detail the interior, which it was very much overdue for. Not much else to report.

@TotalyHucked , Wasn't that Delphi unlimited warranty? Shoulda been, all the Delphis I have done are/were lifetime warranty, and none have failed.

You are correct Delphi comes with limited lifetime warranty. It's the brand of choice at my shop because we see so few failures, but once in a while there is one. Interestingly enough Airtex is the manufacture for both Delphi and A/C Delco fuel pumps, but I do not know if they are manufactured to the same specifications.

@QBuff02 That back unfinished part looks like my 75 K20. When you get done, hop on over here and show me your technique!!!!

Lots of time! Need to have a good base to start with, and then you can cut the clear with progressively finer sand paper and then bring the machine out to start buffing and that's another 3-4 steps of process. The drivers side was in much better condition than the passengers side. It only needs some scratches and flaws smoothed out and the clear buffed and polished. It had quite a bit of orange peel in the finish and that's the other part i'm working to clean up. And at this point it's almost glass smooth. Fortunately whoever repainted this truck 20 some years ago put the clear on pretty damn thick so I had plenty of material to start with! To the point I bet I could've started with 320grit and still had enough clear to polish out!

With a name like Qbuff, I’d expect it to look good, lol.
But that looks awesome. I couldn’t tell exactly what you were doing on the passenger side pics, masked off to re-clear?
Whatever you’re doing on the drivers side looks better than a lot of “new” paint jobs!

Many moons ago, I made quite a bit of money as a youngster on the side detailing vehicles and doing spot touch ups for people on the weekends. I got pretty good at it, and people would see me around and say to me "Buff, I need you to buff my vehicle." Word of mouth went a long way. as for the truck, On the passengers side the clear was pretty much burned off over half that side, so I needed to add clear back to it, I started sanding to make sure the base was still good enough to lay some clear on, but with a metallic base it dulls it down quite a bit taking a few layers off but it wasn't about making it a show quality finish at this point.. I was just tired of that side of the truck being so ugly! Lol It still has it's flaws on that side, but even sitting in the garage it looks 10 times better than it did! Like I told my wife, I have well over 500 pics of the truck on my phone since I bought it and only had about a dozen pics of the passengers side because that was the ugly side. But not so much anymore, it looks so much better now and will keep me content until I take it down and do a full redo next winter. Its just a shame the truck sat in that 3 sided hay barn with the right side taking daily beatings from the sun and burning off the clear for 4 years before I bought it, because the left side is probably going to turn out better than new when i'm done with it. The last step for now in the coming weeks is going to be painting the cowl hood I installed when I rebuilt the engine, it needs to match too!

Drove her to the gas station for beer, but....
Upon returning home I noticed my neighbor was out working on his square. Ever since we moved in in 2019 I’ve loved it. He’s retired from the Air Force, early 70’s, cool dude. He bought his truck brand new off the lot in 1987, Silverado 4wheel
Drive 1/2 ton, factory bed cap AC the whole 9 yards. thing is so sweet. So I wander over and we’re diagnosing why it won’t fire up (bad fuel pump is what we came up with) and he goes...wanna buy it? I was speechless for a second as the gears turned in my head of how I could convince my wife of it and when he told me what he would take, given the condition and it’s only got 145k on it. WishI could swing it. If anyone is in or around upstate SC send me a message as I told him I might know someone who’d want it. The front fender is where he hit a deer this winter. But she’s still a beaut and sounds so good.

Bud, I’m from Atlanta mf’ing Georgia. Even if I gave two flying ***** about what Tucker Carlson or Dan Bungbino is pretending to be mad about, you think I’d find any self respecting establishment here selling Pepsi, yet alone drink a Pepsi ? Lol

a lot of square parts in Georgia. Nice looking trucks , got my used radiator support in Georgia. Seems to be some beds around there , hope I can find a long bed dual tank bed when I get ready to buy one. Getting hard to find those . Looks like you have plenty to keep you busy ! Good deal .

Didn’t know that, thanks! I’m going to try to find my receipt and take it back if possible or swap out for a spare. This one only had maybe 2hrs of run time on it just from me running it to check gauges/fill fluids/etc
