Thats why im scared to do anything to my tree fiddy.... most days she blows a cloud out each pipe on start up every time. Plus it has an odd sound i cant pin point. 95% positive that the first thing will be a skip white dist though. Lets see what she does with that.

A cloud on startup? That's a good thing. It just means your valve seals are keeping everything nice and lubricated. :D

Change your valve guide seals. My 90 350TBI did that and I swapped the seals with the heads on the engine. Used a compression tester hose and put shop air in each cylinder as I’d bar it over to TDC for each cylinder.

Yes you just need the shop air to keep the valves from falling into the engine [emoji51] and there’s several types of valve spring compressors that work with the head on, the harbor freight one works surprisingly well.
