Playing with the CUCV's is what has cost me the most money. $2K is the most that I have paid for any one and thankfully they have retrieved much more on the opposite end. I have been able to make good side hustles by selling the drivetrain components from CUCV and other squares too. I hate cutting them up and will go through extreme measures to get a title for one so that I don't part them out. F body and Squares are my "thang". I love them.

Technically I didn't pay anything for my '91 Blazer but I did have to do about 3 weekends of labor. A friend owned it (454/400/205/1 tons/12"/44's) and bent the frame badly at the steering box while wheeling and he quit on it and bought a Suburban (stock, 3/4 ton), his plan was to swap all of the drivetrain between the 2 trucks and sell the leftover Blazer. I wanted the Blazer because it was totally rust free and straight so I traded labor for all the leftovers. (circa 2002)

I then bought an '87 frame and started my current build.

I paid 9800 ( including shipping) in 2017 for something I could not find except on the interweb. Gawd knows how much in to it now, but it has turned into an almost daily driver, so I am getting my use out of my $'s.

Day I got it in 2017:

Good Lord, I need to invest in a car hauler trailer and start transporting. I paid $15K about 18 months ago for my 1987 and it was A Deal. I had been shopping for months and didn't find anything even close to what I got for under $25K.

I had multiple people telling me I stole this truck and honestly I still feel like I got a decent truck for the money. Classic vehicle prices down here don't match what you guys are spending.

What it looked like Then:

My 84 burb in 2012-13 $500 ran and drove(didn't run good) dirty. But the rust wasn't really showing back then. It had a few spots on the tailgate and the drivers rear fender. 400 and 700r4. The 700r4 is still going but the 400 ended up cracking the block.

Traded a $500 dollar gun for my 85 in October of 2020. 350 is locked up, trans and transfer are unknown but seem okay. Corners of the floors and kick pans and rockers are rusty. A couple of dents and scratches pretty straight though.

And I got my 76 c30 gmc in 2021 for $100 no bed no hood no rear end or motor and trans, passenger side a-pillar rusted out, crusty floor but not gone. Cab is a sheet metal donor, and I'm using the frame for my next build.

The orange truck is the only one I've got without a title.

Then on the other side, I got my 70 c10 as my first truck when I was 16, so had to be like 2009-2010 for $1500 dollars, floors and rockers were gone, was a barn find for 15 years and fired right up and drove home. A friend of my grandpas, he didn't wanna sell it to me but he also didn't wanna say no, so he told me $1500 and being young I said okay, now it's definitely an easy $1500 dollar truck even back then but still the most expensive one I've bought.

Then last and best of all I inherited my grandpas 79 in 2017. Still runs and drives as good as it always did. 400,000 some miles.

So My dad gave me his truck when I retired from the Air Force in July of 1995. It was my daily driver until 1999 when I bought a 1994 2500hd suburban. Used Betsy until for hauling dirt, road base, wood you name it until about 2015. Then in 2017 we striped her and you can follow that in my rebuild tread. So purchase $0, rebuild that's another story.
