...but the time of the the 5.3 is over.

Well, the time of a carb'ed 5.3 is over. Drove it a couple hundred miles this weekend, and the POS got 12mpg :mfr_omg:

That's not gonna get the job done :roflbow:

So tonight I made the first step toward EFI...

That's a good upgrade! This is one of the reasons I've never understood why someone would carb any of the LS based motors when they run so well and efficiently with fuel injection. :)

We did it because we had no idea what the hell we were doing! :roflbow::roflbow:

I can honestly say that if we had gone with EFI right off the bat, we'd still be working on it. The knowledge we've gained over the past year is ridiculous. Now it all seems so simple.

But the best thing is, it won't cost much at all to change over. Have most all the parts laying around.

That'll make it nice then. It's always nice when you can make upgrades and not have them cost you much. This will make for a fun project :)

Great job!
Looks like a nice clean OEM install!
One day, my engine compartment will have one of those.
Can we get some pics of the motor mounts and the trans set up? Or are those on a build thread somewhere?
