Can anyone help with out with the valve cover bolt size on an '83 5.7L? I got some load spreaders in the mail and they didn't come with bolts (really??) so it will get my truck on the road a day sooner if I can find out the size. Thanks in advance.

I like to put studs in. well they are not real studs but set screws. they have the same threads the whole length, with a allen drive at one end. like these,

https://www.boltdepot.com/Set_screws_Allen_Cup_point_Alloy_steel_black_oxide_finish_1_4-20.aspx

then I use serrated flange nuts like these,

this give a great mounting location for mounting wire looms and such. it also makes pulling and reinstalling the valve covers a lot easier. and it looks cool. highdesertranger

That's a good idea! Mine already had the 1/4-20 studs on it. But I did use the serrated flange nuts on it too.

I used flange bolts from ACE hardware when I replaced valve covers.
They seem to work well.
