Engine options were.

The 1985 Chevrolet C10 offered several engine options, including:
  • 4.3-liter V6 engine with 155 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque.
  • 292 ci inline six with 120 horsepower and 215 lb-ft of torque.
  • 305 ci V8 with 160 horsepower and 235 lb-ft of torque.
  • 350 ci V8 with 175 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque.
  • 454 ci V8 with 230 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque.
The most common automatic transmissions for the 1985 C10 were:

TH350 (Turbo Hydramatic 350): A 3-speed automatic suitable for small and big block V8 engines, widely used for light-duty trucks.
TH400 (Turbo Hydramatic 400): A heavy-duty 3-speed automatic designed for higher torque engines, often paired with big block V8s.
700R4 / 4L60: A 4-speed automatic with overdrive, introduced in the early 1980s, providing better fuel efficiency and highway cruising.

For manual transmissions, the 1985 C10 offered:

3-speed manual: Standard on many base models, suitable for light-duty applications.
4-speed manual: Often paired with performance or heavy-duty engines, providing more control and versatility for towing or off-road use.

Not up on what models were used for the manuals in the 80s. SM465, Sagina, and Muncie most likely.

I was reading a recent thread in which two separate guys included a picture of their '83 305 engine. What was the factory color of the valve covers for this engine?
Last question, would a 305 sb with a q-jet, 700 r4 and a 2.73 rear end be an available (common) option for '85?
Thanks
My '82 with the 305 was corporate blue. Ordered early and took delivery in November as an '82 model. It was ordered with a 700R4, but since that was the first year for the new automatic oil burner, all the 700R4's got used in them. Dealer got a note stating it would have a TH350. I still took it, stock gear was a 2.56??

Later when I shoehorned in the RAT, I added a 700R4 and changed the gear to a 3.46.

Our 85 has a factory issued black, centerbolt valve cover, Qjet equipped 4.3L V6, Th400, and open 2.73 gears.

Being redone in red, with a bunch of underhood clean up.
