When I lift my 87 chevy r10 305 th400 factory .when my rear tires are on two jack stands I put it in drive the back wheels immediately start to spin and speedo reads 25 mph is it normal or are my brakes not tight enough

If brakes are pressed at that time, then it is not normal. Rear brakes should grab.

No if I press the brake they stop right away but I was just curious why they would spin the way they do when put in drive now when on regular surface no jack-stands I’ll put it in drive and it won’t move till I give it gas

Torque converter allow slip while in gear and stopped. Otherwise with no load, enough power transferred to spin the wheels

If you want to see something that really messes with your head put it in neutral with the tires off the ground. Most of the time the tires will turn. There is enough rotational drag from the clutches (even though they are released) to cause them to turn. Completely normal, but it freaks people out sometimes.

Hello I have a '79 GMC Sierra c15 and it feels like it's not shifting into the last gear when I hit about 50 it feels like it should shift one more time but it doesn't and because of that I won't take it on the freeway and it runs the rpms super high, what should I do, is it gonna just blow up one me one day
