Hey Guys,
I've been building my engine for the past three weeks and have pondered my way into doubt that my stock converter will definitely not be happy with the engine set up I'm placing against it here soon. So with out beating around the bush i'll list the goods and purpose for the truck and see what guys think on the converter selection size and stall height.
Truck: 81 K10 (3/4 ton axle swap)
ENGINE
Eagle .060 over SBC rotating assembly
SUM-162112 aluminum heads: INT: 200CC / 64 cc combustion chambers / 2.02 int. vlv / 1.60 ex. vlv
Cam: ADV DUR- 298/304, Lift: 0.466/.487 INT/EXH -Basic operating range 2,400-6,000....LSA 114
RPM AIR GAP INTAKE
EDL. 750 CFM Carb
looking around 9.8:1 Compression ratio
TRANSMISSION/T-case
TH400 -Stock converter
NP208
AXLE AND TIRES
10 bolt front (4:10)
14 bolt rear (4:10)
35" Mickey Thompson P3s
What would you guys recommend for a torque converter being that it will see street and off road use. Street- and Dirt will be about equal use of 50/50.
I personally don't see the stock converter doing anything except sluggishly pushing the truck around and not letting the engine come to life at it's RPM band. What do you guys think?
