I just noticed my throttle cable is too long and allows throttle to stick sometimes and that's not good. I ordered a new one but was wondering if maybe it's the cable bracket on the carb that needs to be fixed.

It's gotta huge loop in it and a pretty sharp bend right where it goes into the firewall. Don't know if you can see it in the picture. Need to get that fixed before I hit something trying to push the pedal down.

Mine has that loop as well but I changed out the stud that it attaches to on the carb for a shorter one.

They do make a spray with an attachment (usualy used on motorcycle cables) that allow the lubricant to be sent down the inside of the sheath. Maybe that would help?

I had the same problem.. What I did was loop the cable out of the firewall up and over back towards the firewall and complete the loop and come down off the bottom of the loop and go to the carb attachment point

The new one came in today and it's the same length. So no good. My 82 with 454 and quadrajet is straight and not looped. Wonder if I can find a shorter one? Or different cable bracket?

New one is 15 inches between rubber grommets fir firewall and bracket. Need one about 10 inches between them.

Every where I looked gave me this cable as being the right one. Hmm

Factory cable 1975 k 350 it's sheath is about 10 inches long. Last time I ran a square bore carb I used a cable bracket like this it is super adjustable and not just for 700r4 I was using th350.

I used a cable from a 76 on my SIL's 87 Jimmy with 4BBL conversion. Worked great.

That long cable is for a same period GM van. No clue where or how everyone has the wrong listing.

I have a similar long cable on my ‘75. It’s what came up as a replacement part from Autozone. I was able to loop it so there was no binding, so I continue to use it.

The length is about 22" long. No idea why they are providing a longer cable as a replacement or where to buy it.

I got one from Summit that they claimed was the right one. WRONG! Ain't worth it to send back and the old one still works (for now) so I'll wait to pull it out.

Just did a search out of curiosity, only found long cables or cut-to-fit cables.
